Again, thank you for making my point.

In November, voters should consider carefully each candidate and ask, will that person work to benefit the things that are important to me? Or are they pushing a self-serving agenda that continues down the rabbit hole of outrage and division.
Remember, in an election, nobody gets everything they want, anyone who tells you different can't be trusted.

What Big Bob considers extremism was, and is a facet of what it means to be a true patriot, which the vast majority of Democratic Socialists are not, including all of their recent presidents, and failed contenders for that office.

Some of our readers have expressed that 'all politicians are unclean or unqualified,' which I have naturally objected against; however, I will conclusively admit that former NC State AG (two terms), NC Governor Roy Cooper has abjectly proved to be both - unclean or unqualified.

Ole Coop's atrocious handling of Covid against all data to the contrary was one simple sign to know this truth. Roy Cooper will be far more pathetic than RINO Richard Burr and his companion of ideals Thom.

The one significant thing that Whatley has going for him is that he will listen to the wisdom of Mr. Trump, and should prove not to be a free thinking idiot like Burr and Tillis were.

As a voting system prone to misuse, voting by mail should only be allowed in limited cases, such as where a person is going to be out of town on election day (and during early voting) or unable to get to the polling place. That account of the mail ballots at the nursing home in Saxony-Anhalt is a very good example of how voting by mail can be abused.

When I worked in eastern Europe, a number of countries in that area did not allow any voting by mail. For voters physically unable to get to the polling station, they had an interesting practice of the "mobile ballot box". A person who could not get to the polls notified the election officials during the morning of election day, and in the mid afternoon, a team of election officials, along with election observers got in a car and drove a small ballot box and a stack of ballots around to all the people who had requested the mobile ballot box.

For voters who were abroad, every embassy opened a polling station for citizens to come vote. In countries with a lot of expats or large size, they also opened scattered polling stations at other sites. In recent Romanian elections, they have had the closest polling station located in Norfolk, Virginia. Recent Moldovan elections have had one polling place in North Carolina, which has moved from Raleigh to Hickory to Asheville. These extra polling stations have been organized by the embassy in cooperation with the country's central election commission.

Voting by mail should be available but only for those with a good reason to vote that way. The reason is making election fraud more difficult.

Friend-of-criminals Roy Cooper showed his preference for criminals over victims in lots of ways. One was his veto of bills to shut down sanctuary counties that protected illegal aliens who had committed crimes in North Carolina. Roy Cooper would rather have criminal illegal aliens remain here in North Carolina where they can commit more crimes against citizens than have them deported back to their home countries as our immigration laws call to happen to such illegal aliens who commit crimes here.

Even as attorney general, Cooper screwed up the SBI crime labs processing of rape kits so that many rape cases could not be hully prosecuted.

It is easy to see the extremism on the left - the DSA, ANTIFA, BLM, etc. On the other hand, it recently came out that the extremists on the right, the KKK, National Socialists, white supremists, etc. all seem to be funded by the far left Southern Poverty Law Center, which is now under indictment for money laundering in that operation.

Bob, you have outed yourself on these boards repeatedly as an extremist but now you try to posture that you are not one? That is really rich.

Mainstream liberalism or mainstream conservatism is NOT extremism. The DSA, on the other hand, according to a respected liberal Democrat US Senator is "deeply anti-American."

Former Democrat President Jimmy Carter's Commission on Federal Election Reform, in their report pointed out that the form of voting most prone to fraud is mail-in voting. They recommended that its use be MINIMIZED. Instead, the Democrats, who do not want election fraud to go to waste have been trying since about 2020 to MAXIMIZE it.

If we want free and fair elections, Jimmy Carter had a very good point on mail-in voting. It should be minimized.

Roy Cooper was a budding socialist before socialism was cool. North Carolina does not need that wanker in the Senate. I wish we had a stronger candidate for the GOP, but Michael Whatley will have to do. He is the only game in town now to stop Comrade Cooper.

Extremism:
I purposefully stayed away from attacks on one side or the other to point out that extremism has certain characteristics and is problematic regardless of the source.

As long as it's me against you, each will see the other as a whack-o and keep marching down the rabbit hole to our own detriment.

History teaches us that unless enough of to push back against extremism, the outcome will be f-ing ugly.

Immigration policy is a good example of how Democrats have galloped to the left over the past few years. John F. Kennedy vigorously enforced our immigration laws. So did Jimmy Carter. So, even, for the most part did Barack Obama. It was only when the group that pulled the strings in the Biden regime arrived, that they put their open borders globalist ideology ahead of our immigration laws and went full bore to thwart them and deliberately flood our country with illegal aliens. Now, almost the whole Democrat Party puts even illegal aliens who have committed other crimes in our country ahead of American citizens. It is all about partisan power and their globalist open borders ideology.

Will Simmons and Washingtonian: Governments can be fixed, or I would NOT endure all I have endured personally to attempt to right the listing ship of Beaufort County government, a public entity of what should be of great concern to every Beaufort County citizen, who cares about our future, especially those of us that have called this land home for many generations.

Accordingly, I disagree with the premise that all representatives are useless; I know too many good ones. At the nexus of your consistent pessimism is that we absolutely do NOT have a majority of good, decent representatives here in Beaufort County serving at all levels of governing; NO not enough ... I will agree with you there ...

However, how do we fix this critical element of a proper functioning self governed society, and most precisely here locally?

The only answer to the fixing of that problem is solely up the public; the electorate of the self-governed; picking better, more capable politician one at a time ... And, it is up to the People to choose that most worthy politician; one by one; each and every one.

Paying close attention by the public is part of that noble process, and should be taken seriously.

Mail-in voting is an engine of election fraud everywhere. A criminal investigation has been opened in Germany on mail-in vote fraud in an upcoming state election there, and already there is a smoking gun: rmx.news

Elon Musk did an interesting chart showing how the left in the American political spectrum just kept marching farther left to the extreme, so that Musk himself kept his same views but what had made him left of center in an earlier time now made him right of center. It was not that his positions had changed but that what the left end of the spectrum representing just kept moving farther and farther left. You can view that chart here:

What has happened over the past 6 or 7 decades is that the political spectrum has galloped to the left. What was a moderate position in the 1960s is now a conservative position. What is a left position today is very far to the left of what one would have been 6 or 7 decades ago. That makes the left today the extremists, and they keep getting even more extreme, as the DSA illustrates.

A good example is a campaign ad from former GOP US Senator Scott Brown (R-Massachusetts) about a decade ago. It showed John Kennedy starting an actual speech JFK gave on issues and Brown finishing it, illustrating that Brown's positions on issues were the same as JFK's had been. Another is a Republican US Senator this year introducing the exact anti-immigration bill that Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) had inteoduced decades ago.

Democrats have move to the hard left to the point that the DSA chairman's comment that their goal is communism does not even phase them. Republicans now occupy the political ground that John F. Kennedy and other Democrats like him once occupied and the left now calls that "fascist".

Will, you need a lot more study of American politics.

I am not alone in my thoughts about govt:

Rep. Chip Roy dropped a truth bomb: “At some point people will look at this body and say, maybe we should get rid of all 435 members of the House & all 100 members of the Senate and start over because Congress is literally failing the American people.”

My Kingdom, My Kingdom for one honest politician/bureaucrat, or even an honest attorney.
Socialism is obviously not the change we need, but "the system" is broken...thoroughly.
Show me any part of the local and even state Govt that wants to "serve" WeThePeople! Everyone of them is serving themselves, and anyone who steps up to defend these self serving people mostly likely has money in the game. There is NO reason to praise any politician. Theyare NOT heroes AND they are not any smarter than the ppl here. And guess what...NOTHING said on this platform is going to reform govt. The self-serving nature is too entrenched. WE are NOT SAFE. The city is not safe! BBob if u have a plan, explain it in detail. Talk is cheap.
