"Every Picture Tells a Story ... Don't it:" The Southern North Carolina Coast: Brunswick County | Eastern North Carolina Now

Southport, North Carolina is on of the oldest towns in the state, and was a thriving local center of shipping and commerce in the young English Colony. now it is just a cool little town atop a rare hill along one of the most beautiful coastlines of eastern North America. The limited downtown of Southport has both quaint shops and the local city hall are just a stones throw away: Above and below.    photos by Stan Deatherage

Obviously, the local Episcopal Church, Chapel of the Cross, has been a focal point for the spiritual needs of this community for some time, because this local church has the need of both a larger sanctuary and a Chapel: Above and below.     photos by Stan Deatherage

A mere one block away from the business and government center of Southport is the waterfront harbor along the southeastern shore of the Cape Fear River, with many lovely antebellum and turn-of-the-century frame homes: Above and below.    photos by Stan Deatherage
