Celebrating Independence Day Down East | Eastern North Carolina Now

Also located in The Waterfront Shops is The Blue Point Bar and Grill: Above. Their comfortable and relaxed atmosphere is enhanced by most tables having a beautiful view of the Currituck Sound: Below.     photos by Stan Deatherage

We visited the establishment for a late lunch, on the true July 4th, which explains the spatial ambience. I had the cornmeal crusted Southern fried Carolina catfish atop creole vegetable-tasso ham jambalaya—housemade corn bread: Above. My wife had thepan fried Carolina jumbo lump crabcake on a kaiser roll—lettuce—tomato, with Blue Point’s remoulade: Below.     photos by Stan Deatherage

Later afternoon of the true Independence Day, we once again take a walk along Duck's sound side waterfront. Here I find sitting upon a Sailfish is a beautiful woman with the evening sun at her back: Above. Along the one main road, Hwy. 12, in Duck, NC is one of the many shops: Below.     photos by Stan Deatherage

The following morning, I rise early again, with others, to enjoy the new day: Above and Below.     photos by Stan Deatherage

While I enjoy the beauty of the sunrise, the Brown Pelicans use its warming light to, once again, go fishing for breakfast: Above and Below.     photos by Stan Deatherage
