Washington Waterfront Sunsets: July 12th through July 14th | Eastern North Carolina Now

Castle Island stands as a soggy stick and sand home to year-round Canadian Geese and Mallards silhouetted against a colorful sky: Above. The reflected sky in a faded full color this day, and as the sky darkens, the colors darken into a bolder hue as well: Below.    photos by Stan Deatherage    Click the image to expand to as much as 1000 pixels wide.

For the rest of the evening, in diminishing light, I made similar shots, but differing in the boldness of the colors offered by a generous God in this natural world.
You know the natural surroundings by now, but what you may not know is that these colors were so vibrant, so real, so much to enjoy, and to be thankful for: Above and below.    photos by Stan Deatherage    Click the image to expand to as much as 1000 pixels wide.

This natural world of wonderful for mine, and the benefit of others, offers to those so inclined a veritable sense of wonder, supplied by God for the benefit of Mankind. These rare moments written by His invisible Hand reminded me that Man is so small, our problems are even smaller, but our spirits can roam large ... if we let them.
The sky now, here in front of the Moss Landing townhomes and condominiums, were emblazoned in such rich and rewarding hues: Above and below.    photos by Stan Deatherage    Click the image to expand to as much as 1000 pixels wide.

The sky ablaze burned brighter and brighter until it burned itself well out, leaving only a hint of its former glory, but me with a cache of wondrous images of one of the most color strewn skies of all my days of sunset watching.
The silhouette of Moss landing with all those colors making it all so real ... for a few more moments: Above and below.    photos by Stan Deatherage    Click the image to expand to as much as 1000 pixels wide.

After tonight, whatever animosity that I might harbor for my fellow lesser mortals, I had packed it in for the evening. I was ready to forgive, if only for a day or so, for tomorrow after the brilliant colors fade, it gets rather real all over again.
Good evening and goodbye: The colors and textures here are yours today as they were yesterday only mine: Above and below.    photos by Stan Deatherage    Click the image to expand to as much as 1000 pixels wide.
