Press Release:

Join the Beaufort County Community College Foundation, Saturday, Jan. 25, for a trip to Durham to see the award-winning stage production of Once and enjoy a meal at an authentic Irish pub.

The trip will also include a tour of the Birds of Paradise Exhibit at the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh and lunch at the Triangle's first gastropub.

The cost of the trip, open to all BCCC students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends of the college, is $180 per person. The registration deadline is Friday, Jan. 17.

The price of the trip includes transportation to and from Durham, two meals and tickets for seats in the balcony section for Once at the Durham Performing Arts Center in downtown Durham.

The trip will leave the parking lot at BCCC by 8 a.m. and arrive at the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh. The exhibit tells the story of birds found only in New Guinea and Australia with fantastic plumes and bizarre courtship displays. While at the museum, the group will tour the Birds of Paradise: Amazing Avian Evolution exhibit and see a 3D movie at the museum.

After lunch, at the Oxford Pub in Raleigh, the group will travel to DPAC in Durham for a matinee performance of Once, winner of eight Tony Awards in 2012. Based on the movie by the same name, Once tells the story of a Dublin street musician who is about to give up his dream when a beautiful young woman takes a sudden interest in his haunting love songs.

After the performance, participants will travel to Cary for dinner at Doherty's Irish Pub and Restaurant. The tour is scheduled to return to Beaufort County around 9 p.m.

For more information, or to register, contact Marcia Norwood, Foundation specialist, at 252-940-6218, or Judy Jennette, Foundation director, at 252-940-6326. Information is also available on the BCCC Newsblog and Facebook page found by visiting www.beaufortccc.edu.
