    Goose Creek State Park Calendar of Events for October, 2014.

      Sunday, October 5, 2014       Slippery Salamanders       2:00 pm

    Have you ever seen a salamander up close? Join us as we check out some of our amazing salamander species that could be found in your own backyard. Please meet at the park visitor center, and be prepared to take a brief hike after the program in hopes of finding some in their natural setting.

      Saturday, October 11, 2014       Flatty Creek Trail Hike       2:00 pm

    Hike a short .3 mile trail that winds through upland forest and incorporated sections of boardwalk that cross wetlands. Wear sturdy footwear, bring water and binoculars. Meet at the Ivy Gut Parking Lot.

      Sunday, October 12, 2014       Tar Kiln Hike       2:00 pm

    Take a hike down the Tar Kiln trail and learn about the history of the naval stores industry and the area around Goose Creek State Park. Meet in the Ivey Gut Parking Lot.

      Tuesday, October 21, 2014       An Introduction to Goose Creek State Park       2:00 pm

    A power point presentation will be given that features the natural communities and recreational opportunities found in the park. Meet in the visitor center auditorium.

      Thursday, October 23, 2014       Mallard Creek Hike       2:00 pm

    We will take a relaxing hike through pines draped with Spanish moss down to the Mallard Creek pier and loop around the Huckleberry Trail. Meet in the last parking lot.

We cherish too, the Poppy red that grows on fields where valor led, it seems to signal to the skies that blood of heroes never dies.
RALEIGH: Today, Governor Roy Cooper and North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (NCDNCR) Secretary Reid Wilson celebrated Earth Day by visiting Goose Creek State Park in Washington.
Washington, N.C. – The inaugural Rivers East Advanced Manufacturing Academy took place at Pitt Community College on Friday, September 23rd.
Please join us at the park visitor center on Saturday, October 8th from 3-5 pm where we will host a Halloween Wildlife Event.
