The Office of Governor Pat McCrory announced the following appointments today.

    Raleigh, N.C.     The Office of Governor Pat McCrory announced the following appointments today:

    North Carolina Human Resources Commission

    •  John Eller (Catawba County) - Eller is the director of Catawba County Social Services.

    •  Virgie DeVane-Hayes (Duplin County) - DeVane-Hayes is a facilitator and hearing officer for the Sampson County Department of Social Services. This is a reappointment.

    The commission establishes the rules and policies of personnel for the agencies and universities in the state government system to oversee the implementation of and compliance with the State Personnel Act. The term length is four years.

    North Carolina Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service

    •  Virginia Brewer (Nash County) - Brewer is a board member of Reach Out Rocky Mount. This is a reappointment.

    •  Debora Williams (Wake County) - Williams is a special assistant for graduation and dropout prevention initiatives for the Department of Public Instruction. This is a reappointment.

    •  Beth Hunnicut (Wake County) - Hunnicut is a minister of Christian education at Binkley Baptist. This is a reappointment.

    •  The Honorable Robert Clark (Forsyth County) - Clark is the president and owner of Leesona Industries and serves on the Winston-Salem City Council . This is a reappointment.

    •  The Honorable Frank Williams (Brunswick County ) - Williams is the president of Pioneer Strategies and serves on the Brunswick County Board of Commissioners. This is a reappointment.

    •  Travis Broadhurst (Orange County) - Broadhurst is an Eagle Scout and a student at UNC-Chapel Hill.

    The commission encourages and recognizes community service and volunteer participation as a means of community and state problem-solving. It also promotes and supports voluntary citizen engagement in government and private programs throughout the state; develops a long-term, comprehensive vision and plan of action for community service initiatives in North Carolina. It also serves as the state's liaison to national and state organizations that support its mission. The term length is at the pleasure of the governor.

    North Carolina Psychology Board

    •  Robert Hill, Ph.D. (Watauga County) - Hill is an associate professor in the Department of Psychology at Appalachian State University. This is a reappointment.

    •  Stacie MacDonald (Burke County) - MacDonald is the Psychosocial Treatment Center director at Broughton Hospital.

    The board licenses qualified persons to practice psychology and takes disciplinary action when licensees are found to be practicing in violation of law and ethics. The board also ensures non-licensed individuals do not practice psychology or present themselves as psychologists. The term length is three years.

    North Carolina Public Librarian Certification Commission

    •  Dr. John Harer (Pitt County) - Harer is an assistant professor at the Department of Library Science College of Education at East Carolina University.

    The commission adopts rules and regulations to be followed in the certification of public librarians. It is authorized to establish and require written examinations for certified public librarian applicants. The term length is four years.
