Governor McCrory Makes Two District Court Judge Appointments | Eastern NC Now

Governor Pat McCrory has appointed Steve Messick District Court Judge in the 15A Judicial District and Richard Holloway District Court Judge in the 25th Judicial District.

    Raleigh, N.C. — Governor Pat McCrory has appointed Steve Messick District Court Judge in the 15A Judicial District and Richard Holloway District Court Judge in the 25th Judicial District.

    Messick will replace Chief District Court Judge James Roberson, who became a Superior Court Judge on January 1, 2015. The 15A Judicial District consists solely of Alamance County.

    "Steve has decades of experience and has been an outstanding member of the Alamance County legal community," said Governor McCrory. "I look forward to his service and thank him for his willingness to serve the State of North Carolina."

    Messick is a member and manager of The Messick Law Firm, PLLC in Burlington, which focuses on family law, bankruptcy and guardianships, among other areas of litigation. Prior to this, Messick was a partner with Messick, Messick & Messick. He received his undergraduate degree from East Carolina University and his law degree from Campbell University. Messick previously served as a State Bar Councilor for Judicial District 15A.

    Holloway will replace District Court Judge Gary Dellinger, who retired on December 31, 2014. The 25th Judicial District consists of Burke, Caldwell, and Catawba Counties.

    "Richard has a very impressive resume and his work as an Assistant District Attorney has been notable," said Governor McCrory. "His continued service to the state is welcome, and I thank him for that."

    Holloway is a Caldwell County native, and an assistant district attorney for the 25th Judicial District. He has held the position since 1998. He is also a board member of the Juvenile Crime Prevention Counsel and the Child Fatality Task Force. Prior to this he was a partner with Keller & Holloway, with a primary focus on family and criminal law. He received his undergraduate degree from UNC-Chapel Hill and his law degree from Campbell University.
