    Raleigh, N.C. — The Office of Governor Pat McCrory announced the following appointments today:

North Carolina Medical Care Commission

  • Albert Lockamy Jr. (Wake County) — Lockamy works for Blue Ridge Pharmacy and has served as president of the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy. This is a reappointment.

    The commission adopts statewide plans for the construction and maintenance of hospitals, medical centers and other health care facilities. The term length is four years.

Cherokee Preservation Foundation Board of Directors

  • Joseph "Jay" Eagleman III (Jackson County) — Eagleman is a direct marketing specialist with Harrah's Cherokee Casino Resort.
  • The Honorable Barbara Vicknair (Cherokee County) — Vicknair is a town council member in Murphy.
  • Morgan Owle-Crisp (Haywood County) — Owle-Crisp is a local business owner in Haywood County. This is a reappointment.

    The foundation is charged with protecting, preserving and enhancing the natural resources, environmental and aesthetic appearance of Cherokee tribal lands from degradation as a result of traffic and growth connected to gaming activities. Members also assist in economic development and help foster employment opportunities on or near Cherokee tribal lands. Additionally, the foundation provides funding to help preserve, research, study, restore and develop the history, culture, and heritage of the Cherokee people. The term length is four years.

North Carolina Soil and Water Conservation Commission

  • Ben Knox (Rowan County) — Knox is a sales agronomist for Quick Sol NC LLC and is chairman of the Rowan County Soil & Water Conservation District.
  • John Langdon (Johnston County) — Langdon is the president of the N.C. Association of Soil & Water Conservation Districts. He will serve as chairman.

    The Soil and Water Conservation Commission adopts rules for the development and implementation of a soil and water conservation program. It also approves petitions for soil conservation districts and applications for watershed plans and adopts rules consistent with the provisions. The term length is three years.

North Carolina Board of Chiropractic Examiners

  • Dr. Randy Schilsky (Onslow County) — Schilsky is the president and CEO of the Schilsky Chiropractic Center in Jacksonville.
  • Dr. Ray Armstrong (Scotland County) — Armstrong is a chiropractor at the Laurinburg Chiropractic Center.
  • Jacqueline Hobbs (Perquimans County) — Hobbs is the proprietor of the Beechtree Inn.

    The board regulates the practice of chiropractic in North Carolina to determine the qualifications of individuals seeking to practice chiropractic. The term length is three years.

North Carolina Advisory Committee on Cancer Coordination and Control

  • Dr. Thomas Eisenhauer (Buncombe County) — Eisenhauer has a broad general surgical practice with special interests in minimally invasive surgery and breast disease.
  • Dr. Linda Sutton (Orange County) — Sutton is the associate chief officer for network services/medical director for Cancer Network.
  • Leta Vess (Moore County) — Vess is the cancer registry supervisor for FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.
  • Dr. Larry Wu (Wake County) — Wu is the medical director at Blue Cross Blue Shield NC.
  • Deborah Barton (Rowan County) — Barton is the assistant vice president, northern region for Carolinas HealthCare System.
  • John Lloyd (Durham County) — Lloyd is an IT professional and writes for the Colon Cancer Alliance blog.

    The committee recommends to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services Secretary a plan for the statewide implementation of an interagency comprehensive coordinated cancer control program and identifies and examines the limitations and problems associated with existing laws, regulations, programs and services related to cancer control. The committee also examines financing and access to cancer control services for North Carolina citizens. The term length is four years.
