Wine Appreciation Offered By Division Of Continuing Education | Eastern North Carolina Now

Enter the world of good wine with BCCC

James "The Wine Guy" McKelvey will bring a new appreciation of wine to participants in this class offered by the Division of Continuing Education at Beaufort County Community College.
Want to learn more about good wine — its history, geography, botany and chemistry? Then let James "The Wine Guy" McKelvey introduce you to it in this class offered by the Division of Continuing Education at Beaufort County Community College.

The class will meet 6 to 8 p.m. at Wine and Words, 220 W. Main St., Washington for three Thursday sessions — March 12, 19 and 26. The registration fee is $75.

You'll learn about the many grapes that are used to make wine and the styles of wine that result. You'll also try different combinations of wine and food and learn how to pair and serve wine for a special event.

McKelvey will lead you through tastings to determine how each region produces wine with particular characteristics and how to identify and describe the styles of wine you like.

Each session will include samplings of the wine and food discussed in class.

Students may register by calling 252-940-6375 or in person in room 802 of Building 8 on the BCCC campus. BCCC accepts Visa, MasterCard and Discover. Checks payable to Beaufort County Community College may be mailed to the attention of Eva Peartree, 5337 U.S. Highway 264 East, Washington, NC 27889.
