Are Politics and Physics really that much different? | Eastern North Carolina Now

Publisher's note: This is a reprise, here today on November 7, 2017, of a post published about 2 to 3 years back, is the most popular post in the history of BCN. Great post Bobby Tony; the most popular post of all time, and growing in favor with our readers daily.

Starting or putting out a fire requires three components, So does a Political Movement

This is the traditional Fire Triangle

A fire needs all three of these conditions before combustion can begin. The absence of any one of them prevents a fire. In putting out fires, most methods involve either removing one or all three.

This is an updated Fire tetrahedron

An updated version of the triangle is the Tetrahedron, which adds the condition of a chemical chain reaction.

"The fire tetrahedron represents the addition of a component, the chemical chain reaction, to the three already present in the fire triangle. Once a fire has started, the resulting exothermic chain reaction sustains the fire and allows it to continue until or unless at least one of the elements of the fire is blocked."

So how do you stop a fire?

"To stop a combustion reaction, one of the three elements of the fire-triangle has to be removed.

•    Without sufficient heat, a fire cannot begin, and it cannot continue..
•    Without fuel, a fire will stop.
•    Without sufficient oxygen, a fire cannot begin, and it cannot continue. "

The above quoted lines in red are from Wikipedia

Why would anyone want to post an article on fire, which is documented numerous times over and over on the Web? Well, to stretch a point of course. Fires are somewhat akin to political discourse except they must follow the laws of physics.

However, in politics there are no such physics laws OR ARE THERE?

The political equivalent of a Fire could be "Movement".

•    Oxygen could be equivalent to Media, Newspapers, TV or Website.
•    Heat could be equivalent to Passion on any given subject.
•    Fuel could be the equivalent of a Audience.
If you have Passion and access to the Media you don't need an Audience to make noise, but you do need an Audience to create A MOVEMENT.

If you have two of the three things but lack an Audience, how do you attract one to get the Fire or Movement started? You need to generate some ATTENTION to attract the Audience.

Can you think of any way to attract attention?

Wear a clown suit. (Bobby Tony and his ego)

Keep telling people how smart and educated you are.

Make outrageous statements in hopes of gathering a crowd.

Keep repeating buzzwords and cliques in hopes people will believe you.

Align yourself with other people who are also seeking an audience. (Trump and the Media)

The list could go on and on but you get the point if you realize that without an audience there will be no movement. You would just be singing to yourself in the shower.

Money is the equivalent of the Chain Reaction which is used to increase the attention via media.

So just like a fire, you can remove one of the three components and it will smolder down to a pile of ashes. It remains to be seen if we have a voting populace that just enjoys the show or really wants to build a fire or just put one out. Since I started this post one Republican candidate, Rick Perry has dropped out. I suspect it was the lack of Media Attention and Audience.

Stiletto heels is all the rage now with so called men in them, but probably not so much with the average BCN reader ... at least, I hope not.

The unique thing about this post that you did is that it is still getting views, more than ever - actually about 12,000 views in the last 4 or 5 months.

Quite remarkable it is, and I just had to mention it, and will probably mention it again.

I may have already struted and fretted my hour upon the stage. Indications are that no one cares about my family stories nor my politics. And certainly my not The escapades as a young man.

But it is just possible that if I could write a story about stiletto high heels I might approach infinity views.

Hey, Bobby Tony, I hate to beg, but: Can you write another post like this one, or was it "lightning in a bottle?"

Regardless, this post has pulled away from the other very popular posts on BCN, and is firmly in second place, with over 34,000 views.

Bobby Tony: Can you make "lightning in a bottle" happen twice?

Unfortunately I do not have the rhyming or musical gene in my repertoire.

My Over analytical mind and my tendency to ramble on would result in a song that would rival Alice's Restaurant in length and few rhymes. One word, restaurant, rhymed with itself three times another word back rhymed with track.

You can get anything you want at Alice's restaurant
You can get anything you want at Alice's restaurant
Walk right in, it's around the back
Just a half a mile from the railroad track
You can get anything you want at Alice's Restaurant

The rest would just be mumbo jumbo like most of my articles.

I am with you on that.

I have a challenge for you and me: Why don't you write a song - verse and melody (include the chords) - and I'll do the same for you, and we can discuss it right here on BCN.

You never know, we might get something close to decent.

For a guy who hides behind a phony pseudonym I have no clue what the hook is with this article. I could understand if I had written about Fire and Rain or Bridge over Troubled Water.

Booby Tony, this post is the third all time highest post in the history of BCN. It is really getting a bunch of traffic right now, as it just blew by a successful video between me and The Hood - beaufortcountynow.com

Can you make lightning strike twice in the same arena?

I apologize for this lame continuation of the metaphor, it is the best I can do on short notice.

In the two years or so since I wrote this, we have had an election and what started out as barely glowing ember has turned in to a movement. A president has been selected by the rules of the game, as they existed at the time. In that respect, the sparks turned into a flame.

Now we are in the midst of a few glowing embers (unattributed leaks) in search of fuel (evidence) to start a raging fire built with collusion, obstruction of justice, and or perjury. Carrying the fire analogy a bit further; There is no doubt that we have oxygen/media and heat/ passion of a dedicated group fanning the embers trying to build a fire. But we seem to lack a growing audience or fuel. With enough oxygen and heat we can build a small matchstick fire, but without additional fuel, it too will burn out.

It is almost like going to a pep rally for your favorite team and watching the big pile of kindling smoke but never bursting into a fire because of the rain. I know that is a stretch, but no more so than my original article.

We may get a fire started eventually but getting back to basics, we still need the three ingredients to build that barn burner pep rally for impeachment. If there is no fuel or heat, there will not be a barn fire pep rally. But stay tuned, It is going to be a good show watching the cheerleaders pray for the rain to stop so they can keep the heat up.

RAIN DROPS KEEP FALLING ON MY HEAD

Good analogy Bobby Tony.

Physics is about 60% math, and so it is for competent politicians. It was for me.
