Governor Pat McCrory issued the following statement after the announcement that State Bureau of Investigation Director B. W. Collier is retiring in April after more than 30 years in service to the State of North Carolina

    Raleigh, N.C.     Governor Pat McCrory issued the following statement after the announcement that State Bureau of Investigation Director B. W. Collier is retiring in April after more than 30 years in service to the State of North Carolina.

    "North Carolina is fortunate and grateful to have benefited from Director Collier's leadership and service to the state, which has spanned nearly his entire professional career," Governor McCrory said. "He is the personification of dedicated and selfless public service."

    Collier spent 26 years as an SBI Special Agent before he was named Director of Alcohol Law Enforcement in 2013. He was appointed acting director of the SBI in 2014 before being selected by Governor McCrory to be the permanent head of the law enforcement agency in 2015.

    Collier also served in the North Carolina National Guard from 1983 until 1989.

    Governor McCrory will appoint an acting SBI Director who will serve pending confirmation by the General Assembly.
