Why I am not a conspiracy nut - A nut maybe but not a Conspiracy Nut. | Eastern North Carolina Now

This post is the 2nd pass with corrections to obvious errors in the first published version. It has been resubmitted in hopes that it will receive a passing grade from the grammar and spelling squad. I would like to say there are other errors hidden in the post but that would just be an excuse for errors that I am not aware of yet.

Have you ever heard anyone say "Don't tell anybody this but....."

If you have, that should be proof enough that there is no secret, large or small, important or trivial, truthful or false, factual or fictional that is so important or unimportant that someone will not "spill the beans". I have heard it said that if more than one person is involved it cannot be a secret. You see, human nature dictates that we communicate. That is why we are given a voice and language. It is innately borne into us to convey thoughts through our language.

I usually have a standard response when I hear the "DTATB" preface. It is 'If this is so important and secretive, do not tell me because I do not want to be accused of being the one who passes on this Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious factoid'. It took me a while to come to the realization that every secret will eventually become a footnote or reference in life.

I was reminded of this recently while watching the news and hearing that our next President had been instructing people how to remove the TOP SECRET headers and copy and paste the content into an non-secure email sent on a non-secure email server. Back in my 1960's, college days we would have to spend hours retyping our term papers from a purloined term paper that was kept in the super-secret file cabinet of every fraternity room. I once had an English professor who announced in class that it was not necessary to spend the time copying the term paper from >Sigma Phi Sigma Phi Epsilon(ΣΦΕ); for submission. Just turn in as 3x5 card with the source in proper format and he would grade it just like he had all the other copies of that paper. I took him at his word and tuned in my 3x5 card:

I might add that I was on the GI bill and did not really give a crap about the subject or the grade but I did have a back-up term paper just in case. I had a history with James Sligh all the way back to high school. (See the previous post here), (and here) . I do not recall the grade he gave me, but it was a passing grade and I never turned the real term paper. James Sligh had a sense of humor. He was also a WWII veteran from the Army and may have had some affinity for my readjustment back to civilian life.

One of the biggest conspiracies in my life is the constant and pervasive search for the "grassy knoll shooter' on November 22, 1963. There have been books written, movies made and who knows how many factual and fictional recreations of the assignation assassination of JFK. The general approach is to make up your mind on what you believe and then search for any tidbit that will reinforce your beliefs. It usually involves the politics of keeping Camelot alive. To do that you have to ignore the facts that JFK was probably the most amoral, philandering, and dishonest President we have had in modern history. His life and history was a fabrication created with his father's money and wish to be a legitimate member of society that was denied the Irish of his day.

I held no animosity toward JFK then or now and was deeply affected by his assignation assassination . Politics was not my main interest in 1963 as an 18-year-old boy, but the death of a president on with the film on TV makes an impression that does not go away. I would later learn that life is all about impressions that won't go away. They are called memories and need no basis in fact, just a strong emotional string. It was only later that I took a serious interest in the assignation and have probably read and seen almost every credible work on that day. For the record, I believe that there was only one shooter in Dallas that Day and it was Lee Harvey Oswald from the 6th floor of the Texas School Book Depository. Lee may have been part of a conspiracy in the political sense but I am convinced that he was a lone nut who was in the right place at the wrong time with a twisted outlook on the world.

If you have ever had a friend who was having an affair and tried to keep it a secret, think about how that worked out. It seems that almost everyone knew except his wife who may have just turned a blind eye to reality. But the fact is that he probably left enough clues for Chief Inspector Jacques Clouseau to follow, shows how even a personal insignificant secret is almost impossible to maintain.

Eventually, the truth will come out. Like every secret since time began, there will be someone who does not think it is such a big deal, or someone who sees an opportunity to profit, or just plain common sense will cause someone to break the silence. Eventually we will find out if there really was any TOP SECRET emails on the HRC server but the main quesiton question is when?

However, if you persist in believing in conspiracy theories about everything in life: "Don't tell anybody this but I know why BCN had a server crash. It was simply............." (1)
