The GOP is Planning to Give us the Middle Finger: What Has Political Party Loyalty Cost Us? - John Birch Society | Eastern North Carolina Now

What Has Political Party Loyalty Cost Us?

by Kristin Stockheimer, The John Birch Society, March 21, 2016.

What started off as a way to ensure that Donald Trump would not siphon off Republican votes in a third party run has shown the Republican Party leadership to be hypocrites. Candidates were "made" to sign a loyalty pledge that had them support the final Republican nominee, whoever that may be.

What started off as a way to ensure that Donald Trump would not siphon off Republican votes in a third party run has shown the Republican Party leadership to be hypocrites. Candidates were "made" to sign a loyalty pledge that had them support the final Republican nominee, whoever that may be.

But now that it is looking more and more like Trump, the Republican establishment is tripping over itself to make certain he does not become the nominee. Their definition of loyalty seems to be quite lacking and often overlooked, except when it suits them.

Republican anti-Trump organizers have resorted to holding secret meetings, publicly calling for unity against Trump, and have hinted that the July convention may see a Plan B. Plan B? Did you see where former Speaker of the House John Boehner had endorsed current Speaker of the House Paul Ryan for President? Could it be that the Speakers are pulling the same act that they pulled to get Ryan in as the current Speaker?

Regardless of your stance on Trump, the Republican establishment is demonstrating just how much it thinks you need them to keep you from making a Presidential mistake. Isn't this much like their philosophy on the federal government? They keep saying how much they are needed, but when it comes to their turn to right the ship, they end up sinking it just as quickly as their counterparts. When has their campaign rhetoric matched their post-election actions?

Now, it seems the party leaders will do what they can to continue their neo-conservative big government aims that include perpetual unconstitutional war, sovereignty-robbing foreign entangling alliances, and the ongoing onslaught of liberty through their continuing practice of ignoring the Constitution. So how would that be any different from their liberal counterparts?

Even for those that do not get too excited by political parties, the July convention is certainly going to be entertaining. Yet, there is much we can be doing to right the ship, by working to create an informed electorate and by working through our state legislatures.

    Personal Message from Diane Rufino

Whatever your view of the election is and whoever your candidate happens to be, please recognize that this is a historic election with historic and critical consequences. The outcome will determine whether the PEOPLE have any voice in the direction of their country and its politics. Or it is really and simply up to the political parties and we have just been too blind to see it all these years.

Do we have an individual voice, or is it just a symbolic exercise at the expense of the powerful puppet masters - the Political Parties (and their political elites)? Do we break their strings and maybe elect someone like Trump and get our representative republic back? Or do we get a more "tried and true conservative" on a personal level but get "politics as usual" and reinforce the institution of political party supremacy? PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE... give this election much thought. Please consider and calculate your vote accordingly.
