Press Release:

Raleigh, N.C.     As part of Governor Pat McCrory's efforts to connect veterans, active duty military and their families to jobs in the state, the North Carolina Department of Military and Veterans Affairs released the 2016 NC4VETS Resource Guide. The resource guide, which is available online, provides valuable information for servicemembers, veterans and their families on employment, healthcare, benefits, housing, personal services and education resources across North Carolina. This year's edition of the resource guide includes two new sections for active duty military and women's services.

"One of my top priorities as governor is to help connect our veterans and their families to jobs in North Carolina," said Governor McCrory. "We need to do everything we can to ensure they have the right resources that will allow them to succeed and have the best quality of life in our state."

Creating this premier resource guide is one of many initiatives Governor McCrory's administration has committed to in order to make North Carolina the most military and veteran friendly state in the nation. This guide will provide servicemembers, veterans and their families access to a one-stop shop for a wide range of services and resources offered by government, non-profit and public-private resource providers.

Governor McCrory's successful approach to improving the lives of military families and veterans leverages the resources, tools and expertise at every level within our communities throughout the state. This strategy has proven to be highly effective, contributing to a 50 percent drop to North Carolina's veteran unemployment rate as well as an increase in federal compensation to veterans and military retirees by over $1 billion.

In 2013, Governor McCrory called on Veterans Affairs to revamp North Carolina's resource guide. Since then, the resource guide has grown into a comprehensive, widely distributed publication, which has garnered national attention.
