Subject: Slight risk of Severe Thunderstorms late tonight

    Good morning,

We are monitoring the potential for strong to severe thunderstorms across Eastern NC late tonight. SPC has placed areas along and northwest of a Kinston to Plymouth line in a Slight Risk (15% to 29%) for severe weather with a marginal risk for the rest of the area.

    - Latest models indicate a line of showers and thunderstorms will move across the area ahead of a strong cold front, mainly between 300 AM and 700 AM. A few of the heavier showers and storms could produce damaging wind gusts up to 70 MPH. Moderate confidence.

    - Night time severe weather events can be particularly dangerous. Make sure you have multiple means for receiving warnings.

    - No storms are expected during the day today but it will be warm and windy with Southwest winds gusting to 25-35 MPH from late morning through evening. High confidence.

    - Winds will shift to the northwest behind the front late tonight with breezy and much cooler conditions for Thursday. Wind gusts up to 30 MPH. High confidence.

If you have any questions, give us a call.
