Gold Star for Robot Boy | Eastern NC Now

I worked on this with some friends I met when I was billeted in Savannah, while I was stationed at Tybee Island, USCG station. The producers of this film short were students at Savannah College of Art and Design.

Publisher's note: This is a production that my son, Stanhope, was involved in, when he was in the Coast Guard at Station Tybee. His words and the video are here below.

some friends I met when I was billeted in Savannah, while I was stationed at Tybee Island, USCG station. The producers of this film short were students at Savannah College of Art and Design.

My friends paid a close attention to details that effected the production values, and I will be forever impressed, as well as forever proud to be able to lend some assistance to their final product.

That final product is here below, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did assisting with its production.

Your son has done much to be proud of.

Making the grade of Senior Chief is tantamount to the Sergeant Major rank of non commissioned officers, which receives massive respect from the non commissioned and commissioned personnel.

My son thought the same about the USCG and took a year's break after his first duty on the Diligence working out of Wilmington. He came home and worked with me in Tree Surgery as climber and supervisor. When things got slow in the Thanksgiving - Tax refund time, he saw the light and now is finishing his career as Senior Chief teaching at Elizabeth City. I am proud of his duty as well. The USCG airmen have to go into the mouth of any storm to save people, most of whom should have stayed in port and never shot that flair to celebrate the holidays . . .

I think he would have liked it better if his CO was not such a prick.

He did make many friends, and he has many stories of life up and down the Savannah River, and the coast from Charleston to the mouth of the St. Johns River.

But, he is a home boy and wanted back to eastern North Carolina as soon as he could muster out.

My grown children were here talking about that video and couldn't find it on Youtube, so I said, i can find it right here on BCN by using our Search feature.

I decided to share it again on the Home page after we watched Stanhope matchup with "Gwen".

I have always admired the creative talent required to produce these shorts as well as full-length movies and plays. The details of production down to the background noises and post it notes which most of us would neglect including add to the effect of the presentation.
This is a great clip, and be sure to tell Stanhope thanks for his service. Tybee probably was not a bad duty station.

My grandson is getting into theater beginning with Mary Poppins at WHS. It is a great way to express yourself. My son was at Hunter Field with the Air Division and Savannah ain't a bad billet. . . THANX so much for sharing your son's skills thus far.
