On Monday, Dec. 26, 2011, Robert Mink peacefully departed from this Earth at his home on Bath Creek. He was born on Aug. 16, 1935, in Emmorton, Md., and was 76 years young.

Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday at his home. A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012, at Bath Christian Church, conducted by Rev. Curtis White, with committal to follow at the church Columbarium. Music will be provided by Nancy Hill.

Mr. Mink was the son of Oscar Hunter and Maude Gladys "Reedy" Mink of Jarrettsville, Md., and was raised on a dairy farm there. He had eight brothers and two sisters; surviving are his twin sister, Bette Flanagan, of Conowingo, Md.; Jack Mink of Easton, Md.; twin brothers, Jesse Mink of Bel Air, Md., and Jimmy Mink of Windsor, Pa. Preceding him in death were his sister, Margaret Pavey and brothers, Cole, Willard, Dale, Tom and Ralph Mink.

He is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart of 58 years, Jean Mink of Bath; and preceded in death by a daughter, Robin Anne Mink. Surviving children are: Valerie Robinson of Richmond, Va.; Brenda Mink of Jarrettsville, Md.; Kelly MacKnew of Bel Air, Md.; Robert Hunter Mink of Joppa, Md.; and Koren Angradi of Westminster, Md. He was a loving and devoted father to his children.

He was proud of his seven grandchildren: Lisa Armstrong, Elliot, Courtland and Morgan Robinson, Lindsay Arant, Paige and Taylor Hollandsworth. He had three new great-grandchildren, Adalina Rodriguez, Brooks Arant, and Isla Robinson Alley.

Mr. Mink was formerly a contractor in the Baltimore/Washington, D.C. area, where he owned and was president of Quiet Floor Systems, Inc. He specialized in rehab work on old buildings, pouring gypsum material to level wooden floors in historic buildings. The stadium floors in the old Camden Yards warehouse in Baltimore City, which is now the home of the Baltimore Orioles baseball team, was a job that he was very proud of. He also renovated the historic United States post office in Washington, D.C., as well as many other government buildings.

In 2001, he heard about a new waterfront property development in Bath on a Baltimore radio station. After making a trip to Bath, he fell in love with the area and in 2002, he and Jean moved into their new home on Bath Creek. He made friends quickly and soon had a part time job at the Bath country store, where he enjoyed talking to people, and they came to love him as well. Many conversations and stories were told over by the coffee machine. He was known for his sense of humor, quick wit and helped anyone in need. He was a deacon at Bath Christian Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center, 1209 Brown St., Washington, NC 27889 or Bath Christian Church, 107 S Harding St., Bath, NC 27808.
