Tillis & Burr Applaud Senate Advancement of Thomas Farr Nomination | Eastern North Carolina Now

    Press Release:

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Senators Thom Tillis (R-NC) and Richard Burr (R-NC) applauded the Senate Judiciary Committee for advancing the nomination of Thomas Farr as District Judge for the Eastern District of North Carolina. Senator Tillis spoke at the Senate Judiciary Hearing in support of Mr. Farr, who now moves before the full Senate for consideration. Mr. Farr was nominated by President Trump at the recommendation of Senators Tillis and Burr.

"Thomas Farr is well regarded across the political spectrum and has received a well-qualified rating from the ABA, the gold standard for many members in the Senate Judiciary Committee," said Senator Thom Tillis. "I applaud the Judiciary Committee for confirming Tom and urge the Senate to quickly approve his nomination so he can begin serving the people of Eastern North Carolina."

"I am pleased to see Thomas Farr's nomination move one step closer to confirmation, and I look forward to his swift approval by the full Senate in order to fill this important vacancy," said Senator Richard Burr. "Tom will undoubtedly serve the people of North Carolina well for many years to come."

Mr. Farr has extensive experience and is extremely qualified. He has tried cases in federal and state courts in North Carolina and has handled appeals at all levels of the North Carolina appellate courts, the Fourth and Sixth Circuit Courts of Appeal, and the Supreme Court.

In 2006, Mr. Farr was nominated by President George W. Bush to fill the very same vacancy on the U.S. District Court, and the American Bar Association rated him as unanimously well-qualified.

Mr. Farr received his B.L.S from Hillsdale College, received his J.D. from Emory University and holds an L.L.M. in Labor Law from Georgetown University.
