P.S. Jones Middle School received recognition as an Exemplar School | Eastern North Carolina Now

Press release:

P.S. Jones Middle School received recognition as an Exemplar School for the 2010-2011 school year. The staff and administration successfully implemented DPI’s Positive Behavior Intervention and Support program which strives to improve behavior in the school setting by teaching expectations and recognizing students for good behavior.

In order to qualify for the award, discipline data was reviewed and collected for two consecutive years. The data showed that discipline referrals have declined as well as out-of-school suspensions. The PBIS team completed a power point presentation that revealed the strategies used to successfully implement PBIS. PSJ won the Green Ribbon Award in 2008-2009, the Model School Award in 2009-2010, and the Exemplar School Award in 2010-2011.
P.S. Jones’ staff members and administration are proud of their PBIS recognition as an exemplar school for the 2010 –2011 school year. From left to right, are school counselor, Gary Smith, Adrianne Modlin, Anjum Mohyuddin, Jackie Adams, Assistant Principal Emily Pake, Stacey Lucero, Vickie Powers, Joneice Carroll, Indiana Jennette, and Joe Burns.
