    Good Morning Everyone,

    Our office continues to monitor Tropical Storm Arthur as it progresses along the Eastern US. This system will begin to impact the North Carolina coast with dangerous rip currents and increasing winds today. A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Beaufort County, mainly due to our eastern boarder’s proximity to the storm track. Conditions currently forecasted for our county are as follows.

   Winds
  • Winds will increase through the morning hours, becoming sustained between 10 and 15 mph this afternoon, and continue through Wednesday.
  • Gust of 25 to 30 mph are possible for areas east of Blunts and Bath Creeks after sunrise tomorrow. Gust of 20 to 25 mph are possible for areas west.

    Flooding / Inundation
  • Tropical Storm Arthur is expected to cause 1 foot of storm surge along our county’s coastlines on Monday.

    Rain
  • Tropical Storm Arthur, and the weather systems that are driving it will set up for a potentially wet week. Rain will begin to move into our area after sunset tonight, and a chance of rain will remain trough Friday. 1 to 2 inches of rain is possible during this time. (1” form Tropical Storm Author Monday & Tuesday, and another ½ to 1 inch from other weather systems that will impact our area throughout the week.) *Please note: Models continue to fluctuate in regards to rainfall totals for our area over the next 7 days. We will continue to keep you posted as forecast confidence increases.*

    Attached is our second briefing for Tropical Storm Arthur. A tropical storm warning is now in effect. The highest impacts are expected along the immediate coastline and especially the Outer Banks. Please help us to continue to message the HIGH RISK for rip currents expected Sunday.
