January 12, 2022 - Publisher's note: Due to a publishing SNAFU, I have been remiss in my duties, here at BCN, regarding the proper categorization of county government publications; in particular, the Enhanced County Government Videos, begun August 1, 2019.

Therefore, to thoroughly correct this miscue, I will make the proper categorical correction, and bring these archives forward beginning on January 12, 2022; mixing these historical patterns of fact in with the current news of our day. Some posts brought forward will not be video broadcasts, but most informative posts as to who and what you Beaufort County Commissioners are, and how they govern.

Beaufort County's Commissioners, by virtue of the Police Committee, began to investigate, a number of months ago, the possibilities of whether a county police force would be viable as a supplement to a shrunken Sheriff's office, and is now continuing until a conclusive report can be developed at the conclusion of the committee's duties.

Currently in North Carolina, there are two counties that use the county police force concept - Gaston and Mecklenburg Counties. The Police committee intends to visit Gaston County as a discovery mission to determine the effectiveness of its county police force /sheriff's office hybrid.

Recently, there has been some great concerns that not all alleged crimes in Beaufort County are being investigated properly, or investigated at all, with the most notable instance being the Bruce Gray request to seek justice for the alleged Rape of his daughter. This is a great concern to a minority of Beaufort Counties Commissioners; however, it is a far greater concern to Beaufort County's citizens, as evidenced by an unscientific poll more knowledgeable public can always bring change to terrible situations should never continue to exist.

Should Beaufort County elected officials demand that every alleged incident of Child Rape be investigated in Beaufort County?
Yes, without fail, irrespective of the parties involved; this heinous crime must be investigated, and the truth be known, and responsible parties prosecuted.
No, some Beaufort County citizens are more elite than others, and these types of investigations can be most damaging to the alleged party in question.
