Fox News host Greg Gutfeld blew up at Geraldo Rivera during Wednesday's broadcast of "The Five," criticizing him over a comment on his choice of electric vehicle (EV) and suggesting that he was out of touch.

Rivera shrugged off President Joe Biden's latest move to force Americans to adopt EVs - stricter emissions standards put forth by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) - saying that he'd simply make his next vehicle an electric Bentley.

Gutfeld clearly struggled to contain his frustration, and cohost Judge Jeanine Pirro asked him to weigh in on the topic.

"I'm trying to control myself," Gutfeld said.

    "Why?" Rivera asked.

"Because you just said EV Bentley," Gutfeld said, prompting a laugh from cohost Jesse Watters. "You just explained why people like you find it so easy to sermonize about electric vehicles - because you can afford it."

"Are you attacking me?" Rivera asked then, and Gutfeld said that he was.

"Yes, I am attacking you. You deserve it," the "Gutfeld!" host continued.

Rivera interrupted briefly, saying that once Gutfeld was finished, he reserved the right to offer a counterattack.

"Well, no, the thing is - what I'm pointing out is you said 'EV Bentley' to our audience, right? Who has to pay for the charging stations? Our audience, right? Who has to pay for the transition from gas to electric stoves? Our audience," Gutfeld said.

"Who has to pay for the cancer they get when they - from the gas-powered cars?" Rivera interrupted.

"The transition - ah, God, you don't even have the science to back that up," Gutfeld added. "You have to bear the brunt of your beliefs. You don't, because you can afford an EV Bentley. We're telling our audience to suck on it."

Rivera pivoted then, asking Gutfeld if he'd be willing to share what kind of car he drove - and Gutfeld obliged, mentioning that he drove a Chrysler and saying that it had come with a $45,000 price tag.

    "It's no Bentley," he said.

Rivera tried a different tack, recalling when he had first moved to California and saying that the air pollution at the time had been so bad that he couldn't see across the freeway - but Gutfeld pushed back.

"You stepped in it," he said, adding, "I'll back off. I'm going to back off."
