Event honors retiring BCCC board member Myrtle Carowan | Eastern NC Now

Retired educator and Pantego businesswoman was honored by Beaufort County Community College officials recently at a tea hosted by the BCCC Foundation on the BCCC campus. Mrs. Carowan recently retired from the BCCC Board of Trustees after serving on the college’s governing board for over 20 years. “The Beaufort County Community College Board of Trustees appreciates very much Myrtle Carowan’s service to the college over the past two decades,” said board Chairman Russell Smith.

    “As a retired educator, Mrs. Carowan has added great insight into board deliberations and has been very helpful to me as I have assumed the role of chairman of the board. She will be missed.”

    BCCC President Barbara Tansey also thanked Mrs. Carowan for her service. “On a personal note, I am especially grateful to Mrs. Carowan for welcoming me as a new President to the campus,” Dr. Tansey said.
