Dave McCormick Announces New Bid For U.S. Senate Seat In Pennsylvania | Eastern North Carolina Now

    Former hedge fund executive Dave McCormick announced Thursday evening that he was launching another bid for U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania as Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA) becomes more vulnerable as a result of President Joe Biden's failures as president.

    McCormick was the runner-up in Republican Party primary in 2022, losing to the candidate that former President Donald Trump decided to endorse: Dr. Mehmet Oz.

    Oz later went on to lose to John Fetterman (D) 51.2% to 46.3% in what was supposed to be a strong opportunity for Republicans to retake the U.S. Senate.

    McCormick, who served in the U.S. Military and worked in the Treasury Department under former President George W. Bush, launched his Senate bid at Heinz History Center in Pittsburgh.

    McCormick told supporters that Biden's failures as president have led to the decline in America in a multifaceted way, including economically, militarily, and spiritually.

    The 58-year-old identified some of the top problems facing the U.S. as being the crisis on the southern border, a decline in manufacturing, increased crime, decreased wages, and soaring inflation rates.

    "We cannot lose our country," he said in his prepared remarks. "We cannot lose our culture. We cannot accept the status quo."

    "That is why today, I am announcing my candidacy for the United States Senate," he added. "The hour is late, but our future is bright. But it's only bright if we elect leaders who: create an economy that works for people who work; defend America from those who weaken us through bad policies, misplaced virtues, and weakness; stand up to China's aggression; and give people hope, confidence, and faith that the American dream is alive for all."

    He highlighted his family's roots in the state as a seventh-generation Pennsylvanian, noting that his "great-great-great-great-great-grandfather immigrated from Ireland and settled in western Pennsylvania in the 1800s."

    "I graduated from Bloomsburg Public High School, attended West Point, volunteered to be a paratrooper and served in combat in Iraq. I've worked in the top ranks of the federal government, and I led a successful Pittsburgh company that created hundreds of jobs right here in Pennsylvania," he said. "And while I've had my share of successes, like many Pennsylvanians I've also had my share of personal and professional failures, whether it was losing on the wrestling mat, getting fired from a job, or losing an election."


    He said that he has always learned valuable lessons from his failures and that it has helped him moving forward in life and in being able to lead.

    "My opponent is a rubber stamp. More to the point, he is Joe Biden's rubber stamp. When Joe Biden says jump, Bob Casey says how high. When Joe Biden says vote, Bob Casey says which way. And when Joe Biden comes calling, Bob Casey comes running," he said. "Here's the problem with rubber stamps. Rubber stamps leave the southern border open. They expose the people of our state to rising crime and the fentanyl crisis."
