Safe Kids Pitt County Offers car seat inspections in celebration of Child Passenger Safety Week | Eastern NC Now

Certified technicians help parents correctly use and install car and booster seats during Child Passenger Safety Week

    GREENVILLE, NC     Safe Kids Pitt County urges parents and caregivers to make sure their car seats and booster seats are properly installed on "National Seat Check Saturday," on Sept. 21 from 2-5 p.m. Greenville will have bilingual certified child passenger safety technicians available to provide hands-on instruction on installing car and booster seats at Greenville Fire/Rescue Station 1, located at 500 S. Greene Street.

    "Correctly used child safety seats can reduce the risk of death by as much as 71 percent," said Ellen M. Walston, Safe Kids Pitt County. "We want all parents to make sure their car seats are used and installed correctly and that the whole family is buckled up every time on every ride. We're here to help."

    In a nationwide effort to educate parents and caregivers during Child Passenger Safety Week, Safe Kids and the General Motors Foundation are teaming up for seat check activities as part the Buckle Up program, a national initiative established 16 years ago by Safe Kids and the GM Foundation to keep children and families safe in and around cars.

    Car seat inspections offer drivers the chance to receive assistance and guidance from certified car seat technicians regarding proper installation of their child safety and booster seats. Safe Kids Buckle Up events continue throughout the year.
