Press Release:

Whether you are a business owner, employee or just going about your day-to-day activities, you are being robbed of the chance to perform at peak performance.

The thief is negativity, according to master story-teller Steve Gilliland.

Gilliland, a member of the Speakers Hall of Fame, will present a program at Beaufort County Community College on combating negative thinking 1 to 3 p.m., Monday, Dec. 2, in the auditorium of Building 8 on the BCCC campus.

The program, titled Hide Your Goat, is a workshop for business owners and prospective business owners where attendees can learn the secrets of not allowing people to get their goat.
Master story-teller Steve Gilliland: Above.

Participants will learn to turn negative attitudes into positive behaviors and problems into opportunities. They will also learn innovative methods of dealing with the by-products of bad attitudes.

Gilliland was born and raised in the Pittsburgh area and lives in North Carolina. He earned a bachelor's degree from Grove City College in Pennsylvania and his master's in business administration from Globe University in Minnesota.

He is the author of several books including Enjoy the Ride: How to Experience the True Joy of Life, Making a Difference: A Matter of Purpose, Passion and Pride, and Hide Your Goat: Strategies to Stay Positive when Negativity Surrounds You.

Gilliland can be heard daily alongside Jeff Foxworthy and Bill Cosby on SiriusXM Radio's Laugh USA and Blue Collar Radio.

The workshop is sponsored by Business and Industry Services and the Washington/Beaufort County Chamber of Commerce. It is free of charge; however, to allow for the adequate preparation of materials, pre-registration is requested.

To pre-register, contact BCCC's Business and Industry Services at (252) 940-6375 or email Eva Peartree at evap@beaufortccc.edu or Lentz Stowe, director of BCCC's Business and Industry Services at (252) 940-6306 or by email at lentzs@beaufortccc.edu.
