I arrived in Great Lakes Navy Boot Camp in 1966; soon standing naked shoulder to shoulder in a line of 50 guys as one corpsman walked in front checking my private parts and one in back administering a gigantic penicillin shot to the buttocks.

Look at the pictures carefully and you see 6 guys. Add the teenager in a separate photo and you have a squad of infantrymen. The Sarge, Machine gunner, two ammo bearers, One rifleman and one who might have been a medic. This may have been the whole squad which was normally 7-12 guys.

A Marine RVN Vet Helicopter door gunner said the Warrant officers were enlisted guys who finished boot camp, 10 weeks of Warrant Officer training and 18 month of helicopter flight training. You had to be at least 18 years old.
