Commented on Let's Get It Right!Van Zant: It does appear that a Cheeseman Coalition is forming on this very "independent" School Board.
One more thing, I requested back in February, 2025, from Superintendent Cheeseman, the Title Search and notes on the infamous 4 acres that cost the taxpayers of Beaufort County an additional $500,000.00 for the additional land cost to build a $52,000,000.00 projected for an unneeded school on land thought owned, but was not, and discovered as such, irrespective of the fact that original title search needed for the planning of that school, now being built at the lowest point of the lot, was obviously never requested; never performed when absolutely needed. As Beaufort County's elected taxing authority, and the taxpayers most ardent representative, I have yet to receive that promised Title Search, lo these many months later from Superintendent Cheeseman, as promised.

Commented on Let's Get It Right! One more thing Don: I know Aurora Mayor Clif Williams well, and have for many decades.
To my knowledge, Clif has never asked for S.W. Snowden School to be closed, and has spoken before me, as one of the Beaufort County Commissioners for 7 terms, and has on many occasions, only asked for the commissioners to help keep Snowden open with additional funding, which the 3 Republicans on the board of commissioners voted to do, but failed due to the Center-Left /Left Coalition (2 Democratic Socialists and 2 RINOs) thus being in league with the incredibly uninspired designs of the Beaufort County School Board.

Commented on Let's Get It Right!Don Shreve: The closing of S.W. Snowden School will not only be an issue in the 2026 School Boards elections, it will also be one of the most important issues in the County Commissioner race, especially since the three Republicans serving the citizens of Beaufort County worked diligently to save Snowden, when the School Board would not, while the Center-Left /Left Coalition (those who swap votes to share power on the Beaufort County Commission} stood in the way of these Real Republicans' constituents being better served by their representatives.

I have held my nose and voted for Tillis many times in the past.
If there is a primary, and Tillis has not conceded his position, I will vote for the other guy. Likewise in the past, I did not vote for Senator Burr during many election cycles. For some of you Tillis detractors out there, I sincerely believe Burr was worse than Tillis.

Commented on Go Woke, Go Broke: Nonprofit Could Lose Millions In Federal Funds Thanks To DEI ProgramRecently, I attended a Pitt County Board of Realtors Luncheon and extravaganza, where the middle-aged speaker - the state association president - engaged in an impromptu exchange; where he, the speaker, and myself, the attendee, publicly discussed DEI as I was halfway through my chocolate dessert.
The Middle-Aged Association President expressed: "Right now on all forms, created by the North Carolina Association of Realtors, the subject of DEI and its content is now scrubbed, removed from all forms you will use going forward." Stan Deatherage, as erstwhile Realtor intuitively ... Claps loudly and utters a sincere and effective cheer. The Middle-Aged Association President (staring in the direction of the clapping, cheering Deatherage queried): "And you think this is a good thing?" Continuing in retort, "DEI is important, and will be necessary on all our forms, for every communication of our Association's business until every homebuyer, every Realtor's client knows: Inclusivity and Equity in this Diverse Society within North Carolina." In a state of unrequited puzzlement, the Associated President continued to cast his gaze upon me, even though I had now stopped clapping and cheering, just like myself, the estimated 4 other half-hearted clappers, out of about 120 Realtors in attendance, had withdrawn the slapping palms in an haphazard rhythm out of lack of momentum, there at the Greenville Hilton, that day in early June, 2025 ... As if he expected a detailed, concise answer from this: Grizzled Realtor of some great esoteric knowledge; a 7 term Conservative Beaufort County Commissioner; Publisher /Webmaster Extraordinaire and Digital Impresario; not to mention a Writer of all manner of prose, non prose and whatnot ... So, yes I instinctively responded. And, not to disappoint, as expected, an unperturbed Stan Deatherage blurted out simply, and without much regard for the fanfare of perfection, succinctly retorted ... "DEI is an abomination!" And nothing more was said. Continuing on, after the profession of an alternate and unexpected reality within this abrupt measure of discourse, the Middle Aged Provocateur and After Dinner Speaker continued his gaze upon my person for a few long seconds, as if he expected a more robust explanation, in debate, regarding this tattered and lost issue - DEI ... Of which I could have duly given such in the great spirit of refined verbosity, and would have done so in any political setting; however, I did not here, then ... My Chocolate Cake was only half eaten, and the hour was late. In hindsight, it would have been rather nice if the wait staff had brought me that first cup of coffee with cream. Coffee is a welcome substitute for ice cold milk.

Commented on Civics 101: Beware of BureaucracyI will argue, successfully, that the county government actually raised taxes this fiscal year, and one can easily decipher such once they get their tax bill in August, thus comparing probable increase year over year.
As your Conservative County Commissioner, I voted against that tax hike in a variety of ways, on a multiplicity of days. The City of Washington took raising taxes, however, in a revaluation year, to a grand and incredible scale, far beyond what the county of beaufort did to its citizens, so I am advising all taxpayers to compare bills and know the truth of your property tax predicament of financing certain "Waste, Fraud and Abuse."

The City of Washington is a much smaller government than county government, and there is plenty of low hanging fruit to cut as waste (even more than the county government, where there is a plenty), so their core government should be considerably less than the 25 Million mark.

Public education, more and more, is becoming a smooth hustle for the Left, and the public owning these schools rather than tearing them down, or allowing them to fall into complete disrepair is what I believe to be the best option to aid in turning the public's education around, and do it NOW.
Of course, we will probably need one more smart commissioner first.

From a clear eyed historical point of view, Barack Hussein Obama was the second worse president of my lifetime, presiding over a most corrupt administration.
The worst president, of my 3 score and ten, was Idiot President Biden, who was an incredible traitor to this Constitutional Republic, and we have paid mightily for his calamitous Non Presidency. Hopefully a revised education system will help this nation foment a far more intelligent voting public. Of course, Barack Hussein Obama needed the propaganda willingly offered by the OMG (Obama Media Group) to survive his presidency basically unscathed, so America's first Non Patriot President would absolutely benefit greatly from censorship.
