Washingtonian: On Snowden, it is a general statute situation that the county commissioners have to buy and pay market value, which would not be very much considering what schools sell for historically, especially in Aurora.

I am strongly in favor of buying all school buildings back in Beaufort County, as the local school board is now so intent on consolidating so as to keep children in buses for large blocks of time in their young active parts of their lives, and also to evidently to reduce parental involvement.

My strong feeling is that now, with School Choice evolving in North Carolina, inexpensive school buildings could be a probable incubator for better managed charter schools and private schools, or ... if the Beaufort County School Board learns how to assert itself into a management position, then they could take the building back from the commissioners, and finally ... Do what it is prudent and right!

Washingtonian: With all the stupidity, corruption, and abject mendacity, I have encountered and forced to endure over these many decades in the surreal that is Beaufort County politics, and government, there MAY be a handful of people in Beaufort County that understand what constitutes "Democratic Operatives" as well as myself. I know these fools to their core, and I have an ongoing master plan to be rid of them for me, for US.

I know them at their core once they act-up after taking their seats, won by deception and fraud, and then there are the poor political wannabes that are easily vetted; that are often dissuaded from that eventual embarrassment that will be their lot.

Nick Fritz has been vetted by myself, and I pray I can keep him close after elected, and that he will continue to listen to me; not to be another Stan, but to be his own man with a shred of my hard won wisdom, and dedication to the same simple principles, as myself, collected somewhere within his governing mind and spirit.

Thank-you Ray for your grass-roots every-man view of the Convention politics at the state level.

On the other hand, back home here in Beaufort County:

Last night at the local Beaufort County GOP meeting, in which I am not only an ex-officio, but also a voting committee meeting, I watched NC Representative Keith Kidwell, in an extremely heavy handled manner, shut down the meeting when the Conservatives wished to put forth conservative issues for consideration; as if Representative Kidwell's job was to run political interference for the RINOs in attendance ... In essence representing himself as these RINOs chief enabler.

Doing such is not helpful for the other elected Conservatives here in Beaufort County ... It is just something that I would never do, and I am not alone among other elected Conservatives in that regard.

When my constituents ask me what is wrong with government here in Beaufort County, I have one simple answer: The Beaufort County GOP.

Last night once again was excellent proof of such, and this is not just my opinion ... there others that understand Conservative governing like I do, and it begins with Conservatives acting as a team on principled conservative issues.

Buzz: The RINOs on the board of commissioners were in league with the School Board to close Snowden. It was a very planned event - the closing of Snowden School in Aurora, NC.

Hood: I will challenge taxpayers to compare their 2024 property tax bill to their 2025 property tax bill, I would bet that 90% of the taxpayers are paying more and 40% of taxpayers are paying significantly more.

Beaufort County Taxpayers: Let us know here at ENCNOW.com and Beaufort Observer what your findings are on which year you paid more taxes.

Van Zant: Unlike the unimaginative School Board, Charles Hickman is a school board member that listened to the People of his district, and other districts as well, and he did it repetitively, on Snowden and many other issues.

And I agree Van Zant: Most arbitrary decisions to close Snowden were specious; but, I believe they have a bigger game plan afoot, but are definitely "small ball" in realm of making decisions for the public's best interest. Having said that, the Beaufort County Commissioners will have the last word on what happens to that property, and will be able to buy that property back at fair market value, which is not much for these schools here in Beaufort County.

One more thing Van Zant, Hood and I are already talking about BCS NOT tearing down Eastern Elementary so easily and conveniently, and, of course, the same goes for John Cotton Tayloe.
