Politics is strange; you can reverse your position and then say you have evolved into a different nuance. Here is old Joe Biden admonishing the Bush administration about letting the people decide. I used to think these people were stupid to believe they could get away with this crap (both sides guilty) but it finally dawned on me that Pogo was right.

I do not think the horse is dead yet, so here is another VENN chart to beat on the carcass. This one is based on the political spectrum. This election has become more confusing as it progresses for me. It points up how out of touch I apparently am with the rest of the populace. It reminds me of basic training cadence count.
Here we go again Same old stuff again Marching down the avenue Few more days and we'll be though I won't have to look at you So, I'll be glad and so will you GET IN STEP BOBBY TONY OR YOU WILL BE RUNNING ALL DAY ![]()

I use a personal VENN diagram to plot the candidates' views within my hot buttons. I still have software that I used during my working career. This is not that chart I use but it offers some view of the positions of each candidate. Generally, the VENN chart is useful for finding the overlap where candidate qualifications and policies more closely match your own. Alex J. Ortolano has an excellent blog on over analyzing the political process. As usual, the whole thing is subjective and really is a gut check for over analyzed opinions.

Commented on When Pursuing A Bad Person, As You Are About To Apprehend Him, Stop & Give Up The ChaseFor a short while my son worked for a finance company and installed GPS trackers on the cars. They could disable the ignition, locate the car and have it repossessed at will if the loan became delinquent. Most new cars already have tracking capability now and the data can be downloaded for us in a wreck or speeding incident. This whole IPhone debate now is a smoke screen, I am researching it now.
It reminds me of old Chief Dooley in Clarkston (1960-63), who would say if you try to run away, I will just go to you house and your dad and I will sit on the porch and wait for you to come home. Your choice.

Commented on When Pursuing A Bad Person, As You Are About To Apprehend Him, Stop & Give Up The ChaseI was just being a bit facetious with the dart comment based on a YouTube video I saw recently in my automation searches. Since I was operating on IPhone mobile, I did not take time to look up the original source video. It is a takeoff on the old James Bond Goldfinger, which as I remember correctly would allow James to stop for a quick one while tracking. Sorry, I did not men to step on your comment: Here is the video link:

I am not too sure it is the big cities that have changed things, but the people who have changed. Our neighborhood is just as close as any neighborhood from the 50s with many friendships and people who know each other socialize and always waving and friendly. Granted it is a retirement community and no one really has jobs to go and it is based on a social motif. Job mobility and transfers change the social dynamics.
As a confirmed hermit and recluse, this could be the kernel of a long winded rambling post or maybe I just need to reminisce then move on.

The Hov-Hot lanes are reprogrammed to accept the signal and alert the gestapo ugh , I mean police. The cops track and pull over anyone with three darts and make a polo-citizen arrest. I may qualify for the SWMIIT or YMIIT club?

Commented on Atlanta, a city too busy to moveUpdate on Atlanta traffic. Inquiring minds want to know.
Which Peachtree did I say? That doesn't make any difference they all eventually end up crossing each other. If you see the Big Chicken, you have gone too far North. Keep an eye out for Yankees and make a U-turn heading south. If you see the Varsity sign, you are almost there. ![]()

We don't have enough room for more roads and yet we continue to add lanes and junctions. Here is the newest project for the 400 interchange in Dunwoody.

I was not precise in my comment. The "your" was referring to TMAC's choice. Tonight and tomorrow will be interesting as the rumors are now spreading about Jeb's campaign. This reminds me of grammar school talk about those kids not chosen on the first round of picks for playground games.

I am refraining from commenting on your choice because there may be a few people from Chicago driving through North Carolina on the way to vote in South Carolina and I don't want to influence their vote in this crucial primary.
I also am waiting to declare my vote on March 1, in Georgia in case the field narrows down by then. That is all I have to say about that.

However, I do think the Pope should stick to his calling and stay away from secular pronouncements.

The site below shows the amount donated to each campaign and if you click on a given name, it will show the areas with the highest donations. North East, Florida, Texas and California are the biggest sources of Money it appears.
Cruz and Carson are about even according to this. Feel free to use this post to make comments regarding any or all candidates or issues. www.fec.gov

Commented on Ted Cruz ask for money alsoTwice so far that I am aware of we have Republican TV ads compromised by poor vetting. One was the soft porn girl in the Ted Cruz ad. And now the Marco Rubio Morning in America Ad with the video being from Canada instead of the USA.
My question is this: Were these really oversights or was it just possible that the entertainment industry had a hidden agenda in producing these ads. When you hire an ad agency to produce your video adds, you have about a 90% chance (based solely on a biased reading of the tea leaves and almost any movie) they may be a left winger. It might be like asking the devil to say grace at your dinner meal. Perhaps we will never know. It reminds me of an old saying "Just because I am paranoid, it does not mean they are not out to get me".

Well Said, Justice Scalia was a principled scholar who was able to separate the argument from the personality. It is interesting to me that one of his best friends on the bench was Justice Ginsburg. They were opposites in law opinions but friends; a unique concept. I just hope his faith in honest dialog and the forum of ideas are not lost in the battle to "fundamentally change" the American experience.

Commented on TMc: Robot LoveI am reluctant to comment on this Robot Love post. My previous posts about automation indicated that robots follow computer logic. Most computers are serial logic processors. As in: if A then B. After reflection, I must admit that I have never met a woman that follows the computer logic tree.
However, for the sake of argument, I doubt that computer science will ever be able to capture the nuances of women logic and that is why Robotic Love will never work. beaufortcountynow.com

A point of Clarification on my previous comment. The Old Rock Building pictured in Ted's post above was actually one of three buildings plus a Gymnasium at our high school. Both Ted and I had classes there. It is no joke to when I say there was a fireplace in one classroom. In 1960 census, our little town of Clarkston, Ga only had 1524 residents, and our class only had 63 or so seniors in 1963. The county was just beginning to become a suburban enclave of Atlanta. That is the rock building in the top right below.

People don't believe me when I say that my High School Geometry class had a granite fireplace. My teacher Wilfred Boykin never let us light a fire in the fireplace, but he did send me to the hall many times to inspect for cracks in the granite. I never found any cracks but that was long ago and far away. The building has been replaced with the new building that is the Clarkston Library but I bet it is full of crack.
I wish I had paid more attention in that old rock building and I never took the time to apologize to Mr. Boykin for my teenage pranks. He was a dedicated teacher and could have taught in a tent.

I was fortunate to be able to sneak in the back door without a college degree. I had a great mentor who told me "You may be the last guy to join field sales in this company without a college degree but if you apply yourself and succeed no one will care where you went to college except the aging frat boys". And I was the last one to enter field sales without a college degree. In promotions they always included Bob Smith obtained his degree in Mechanical Engineering from XYZ college. To keep from lying, my promotions said, "After having his college career interrupted by Vietnam, Bobby Tony retuned to Georgia State University on the GI bill." My old Boss Ben Gray was right. Only the aging frat boys really gave a damn what college you went to. I was given a pass thanks to a boss who was willing to run interference for me and I never wanted to let him down.
I posted about it here: beaufortcountynow.com

The CBS news report echo's my experience. When I retired in 2004 and for many years before that, the basic requirement for hiring any customer service job or clerical position was a college degree. While it was not implicitly stated as such, the reason was twofold. A college degree indicated that the applicant had some ambition to advance and secondly, four years of college meant four years away from juvenile attitudes. The interview process was brutal as well with multiple interviews by different management disciplines within the company. While our product was an engineered product, the company felt that the basic engineering concepts could be taught and we had in place a internal technical training course to bring customer service people up to speed.
Applicants for field sales went through a one-year Captains program before ever being assigned a field sales position. The program covered technical training as well as presentation skills, problem solving and industry specific training. I often thought that the reason they could have such a rigorous entry criteria was because there was a vast audience of college educated applicants to chose from. It was also to protect the investment in new hires. The company estimated that it spent $50K per new hire in training and orientation and it was an ongoing process of education in new products and processes. Over 80% of the manufacturing plant hires were college or two year technical school graduates since almost all of our production machinery was state of the art CNC or other automated equipment. I can only guess as to the non-technical and non-manufacturing sector requirements for employment. Greenville, S.C. had plenty of applicants to chose from as well.
