Commented on The FREE Feedback LoopI have spent a few sleepless nights trying to figure out how we can offer free stuff for everyone. If I am correct, only one person could multiply a small amount into enough to satisfy everyone. In the absence of that miracle, I have discovered that the solution is to use Bernie Math. I do not know why it took me so long to find out this simple formula. I guess I need a new calculator, my seems to be broke.

Thanks to Stan for digging through the cache and recovering this post. When I originally composed this post in November 2015, it was a very emotional journey back to the past. Charlie has one of those faces that transcend time and I would have recognized him on the street today.
It is a good coffee table book. Even thought I was not present for most of the pictures, they bring back many good memories of the time spent with the boys. The IPAD app with some comments was a very comforting review. It reminds me of a couple of old grunts talking about their comrades Smitty or Vinny or maybe old Hollywood 40 plus year ago. I extracted a couple with a video screen capture and edited them together.

Commented on TMc: Getting Old is Expensive 01Instant update. I just found a Kroger coupon on the Internet GoodRx which reduced the cost from $316 to $183.4 for 90 day supply. I'll go back to Kroger to check if the coupon is valid.

Bernie has a tightrope to walk regarding guns and laws. Maybe he should read the Vermont State constitution again.
"The Vermont Constitution of 1777, dating well before the Bill of Rights to a time when Vermont was an independent republic, guarantees certain freedoms and rights to the citizens: "That the people have a right to bear arms for the defense of themselves and the State – and as standing armies in time of peace are dangerous to liberty, they ought not to be kept up; and that the military should be kept under strict subordination to and governed by the civil power."[3] In the modern era, the Vermont Supreme Court established the right to carry firearms without a permit in State v Rosenthal, 75 Vt. 295 (1903)." en.wikipedia.org NRA site also provided without the link: nraila.org/gun-laws/state-gun-laws/vermont/

Commented on Rev Gene's Condensed History of religion. This post was originally a comment from Gene on Diane Rufino's post listed below. Ted McDonald suggested that it should be an article and I agreed that it is a condensed history of Religion as explained by a Baptist Pastor. I formatted it for resubmission as a standalone post under Gene's by line.
I hope that explains the reference to Bobby Tony in the initial paragraph of the post, which is my only contribution to this article. beaufortcountynow.com

Commented on Ben Carson Scares LiberalsVisualization is used to formulate thought or to improve performance.
Visual thinkers may also close their eyes, sometimes when talking, so they can better see the internal images without external distraction. Golfers are almost always taught to imagine the flight of the ball and let muscle memory take over. As. Surgeon, I suspect it is a practiced habit to visualize his next incision point.

The controversy continues to rage here about the proposed monument to Dr. King at Stone Mountain. Andrew Young was one of Dr. King's closest advisors during the civil rights movement. He says:
“My understanding of Dr. King’s nonviolence movement was to create a reconciliation of races and opinions,” Young said. "I think it is a wonderful symbolism to have a Freedom Bell on Stone Mountain that would honor Dr. King. It is not only a good idea. It is a necessary idea for this nation to pull together.” www.ajc.com

Commented on Love Song Extraordinaire: "Romeo and Juliet"That's a great clip.
There is a vast difference between technical competence and mastery. It starts with hours of practice and honed by love of the instrument. Did you notice the kiss at the end of the second clip by Mark? The Resonator deserves that respect, it served him well through the years Lindsey and Mark both have the love and the mastery down pat.

Commented on Love Song Extraordinaire: "Romeo and Juliet"Mark uses the same style is Lindsey Buckingham with the three fingerpicking arrange without a pick. That's not exactly fingerpicking but it is guitar playing at its best. Lindsay in an interview one time said that he learned his guitar style from listening to the Kingston trio and tried to imitate the five string banjo.
Romeo and Juliet is a great love song made better by his national style / dobro picking in open "G" tuning. Mark play is so smooth that is looks easy. It ain't. And who cannot relate to "When you gonna realize it was just that the time was wrong ----Juliet"? Nothing in this life is 'till I die', except possibly the elusive JULIET. Of course, their big hit "SoS" is one of the all-time best rock songs and like you said a welcome diversion from disco.

Commented on Hillary B. Clinton Camp in Crisis ModeI forgot to include my Wink Wink, Hint Hint icon on my comment.
Factual opinions is an interesting concept. In some colleges they require you to research all sides before forming an opinion and be prepared to back up your opinion with references and facts. I could have saved a bunch of money if I knew you could just jump to conclusions based on some clique or phrase. I bought this hat for those who have trouble answering the questions. I would agree that HRC is an extremely flawed candidate and it apparently has the Democratic party in a quandry on how to extract itself from the debacle she has created. I don't plan to watch the debate tonight, but I will tape it just like I do the NASCAR races so I can review any wrecks the next day.

Commented on Dueling Hits – Jazz –through the yearsNo, he'll probably never reach that level again. I have never been a Parrothead or even a Deadhead and I only really enjoyed maybe four of his songs which are the popular ones played over and over again. I saw him at the GSEMH (see my post) before he was a huge hit.
The one thing you can say about Jimmy is that he found his niche he stuck with it. He is a fairly affable guy who just found a way to make money and continued to do it. He doesn’t take himself too seriously but people follow him around and listen to the same songs over and over again at his concerts. I think it is a nostalgic wish to revisit a time and place you never were at. I read his autobiography which was written in 1999 " A pirate looks at 50". It's got some good stories but basically it's a story of Jimmy Buffett making a lot of money buying a lot of planes and having a great life living in the niche that he created. Excuse me, I've got no booze in the blender. I used too but it' all over now. beaufortcountynow.com

beaufortcountynow.com I was vaguely aware that Brian Wilson had some mental issues and subsequent research from Wiki and other sources show his problems may have been enhanced by drugs. In any event society benefited from his alternate view and musical interpretations and he has a legacy that will endure. I guess that is the endearing beauty of artist. They don't have to conform to our narrow interpretations of normal. Van Gogh and Kurt Vonnegut (mental illness or genius)maybe examples of our tendency to pigeon hole people who don't fit. Below from WIKI. "Wilson suffers from auditory hallucinations and has been formally diagnosed as mildly manic-depressive with schizoaffective disorder that presents itself in the form of disembodied voices. According to him, he only began having hallucinations in 1965, shortly after experimenting with psychedelic drugs. In recent years, Wilson's mental condition has improved. Although he still experiences auditory hallucinations from time to time, his relationship with his wife and his new regimen of psychiatric care have allowed him to resume his career as a musician."

Commented on Dueling Hits - Chicago - 1970Stan you are so right on the late nighers.
If you have ever pulled an all nighter studying for a test or writing a term paper or just tossing and turning, you can relate to this song. The song "25 or 6 to 4" was written by organist/vocalist Robert Lamm. In the late '60s and '70s people tried to read hidden messages and double meanings into song lyrics. Bob Dylan made a career on that tendency. Just what does the title mean, Lamm says, "It's just a reference to the time of day"--as in "waiting for the break of day" at 25 or (2)6 minutes to 4 a.m. (3:35 or 3:34 a.m.) I guess we have all been there. Click below to listen to "25 or 6 to 4". beaufortcountynow.com Look at the time of this post "25 or 6 to 3" ---2:34 I may have a future as a song writer.

Commented on Ballads are the 'Bread and Butter' of the Auditory Arts, Especially this One: "Mona Lisas and Madhatters"I will have to admit, this one slipped right past me in 1972. However, in defense of myself I was not into too much introspection at that time. I think I may have been more aware of Rocket Man, Crocodile Rock, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road at the time. Thanks for posting this one. It's funny how some of the songs you missed can open up a new horizon. I may have to revisit some of EJ's songs to see what other Gems I missed.
