Dueling Hits - Chicago - 1970 | Eastern North Carolina Now

Formerly known as the Chicago Transit Authority but had to drop the CTA due to the city's complaints. Chicago combined great musicians with great lyrics and a rousing beat that could wake up the dead. Or at least that is what I felt like after a long night on the stools.

I used this song as a wake alarm for several years. I still think of it when I have an appointment early in the morning. Believe me that is not something I do intentionally. I am up usually around 4-5 AM but just not ready to leave the house.

    "Wake Up Sunshine"

Just the thought of a pretty girl and the homecoming will make you smile when you are on the road selling that crap.

    "Make Me Smile"

Stan you are so right on the late nighers.

If you have ever pulled an all nighter studying for a test or writing a term paper or just tossing and turning, you can relate to this song.

The song "25 or 6 to 4" was written by organist/vocalist Robert Lamm. In the late '60s and '70s people tried to read hidden messages and double meanings into song lyrics. Bob Dylan made a career on that tendency. Just what does the title mean, Lamm says, "It's just a reference to the time of day"--as in "waiting for the break of day" at 25 or (2)6 minutes to 4 a.m. (3:35 or 3:34 a.m.)

I guess we have all been there. Click below to listen to "25 or 6 to 4".

Chicago was so different than most of the music I listened to, but I liked this album.

Two of my favorites were: "Make Me Smile" and "25 or 6 to 4". I understood both tunes quite well.
