OK JS. For the sake of argument let's say the civil war was not about slavery, Instead it was about states rights. The right for a state to allow white people to own black people, but I see how you can make the states rights argument. But for the sake of discussion, let's say you are right, slavery was just a thing, over there. Now, explain Jim Crow. You and I are not responsible for slavery, but we lived during and benefited from Mr. Crow. In many ways we still do. Which side were you on in 1964 and 1968? Explain 150 years of Mr. Crow.

As far as complexity of the times, we can agree. On the rest, we will have to agree to disagree. Honestly JS, I've never understood why some advocating for equality under the law would be considered a Marxist? I enjoy the capitalist system however, I advocate for equal opportunity. The very opportunity denied many for most of our history and even today the effects of the one sidedness is still felt. Are things better? Yes. The reason its better is because a lot of people fought and fight for change. Honor the dead? Sure. But don't let their mistakes live on.

We are all a product of our times and no one is maligning anyone personally. That said that phase of our history is not something to be celebrated. Sometimes we do bad things. Best to seek forgiveness and redemption and move on treating each other better.

By the reaction I'm guessing Arlington Cemetery is publicly funded. This is a tough call but these types of things belong in museums and history books. (As I said you can display what you want on private property) We must never forget our history less we be condemned to repeat it.

CT, Ive just learned that when people go the conspiracy theory rabbit hole there is no talking to them. The future is unknown but I'll stick with the smart people and common sense. The earth is warming. Burning fossil fuels is exaserbating it. It's true. We deal with it or we cook. IMO, it's too late. It's gonna hurt.

Not sure how I feel about this. These monuments have no place in the public square but I think OK on private property .If Arlington is paid for with tax money, it needs to go. If not, it can stay.

No I am not. Big Bob will not be happy until everyone walks around armed. The more guns the better. Only way to be safe. After yesterdays mass killings, those RINOs in TX are about to pass some crazy gun control laws that wont let 18 year old's walk around town with an AR-15. WTF? no wI did hear one good thing on Fox. they were taking about the mass shooting in TX yesterday. The guy said our mind set needs to be, we should be prepared to kill everyone we meet. School, church, Mall, city Park. It doesn't matter. Carry a gun at all times and be prepared to kill everyone you meet. Don't actually do it mind you but be ready. I think that is such good advice. Please everyone, carry and be prepared to kill while picking up the quart of milk at the store. I feel so safe knowing this is how it is.

Oh and the health of the woman is very important. Republicans abortion laws have left women to bleed out in parking lots rather than treat them for fear of breaking the law. That has to stop.
