Since the DMV is going to use this facilty, why not build a truck weigh/inspection station instead? This would generate money for the state as well as getting those high speed SUV's running 90 mph up and down the road, chasing those 55 mph trucks, OFF THE ROAD.

From my business experience with the trucking business, there is no doubt the State will use their highway bureaucrats to drain the truckers and their business of whatever that is left after cost of fuel, maintenance in a bad economy. Maybe truckers should hope for some "change you can believe in."

Weary travelers can stop in town to eat or rest. Truckers can stop in town to eat, fuel, or rest. I know, because I have done that job for many years. The only economic advantage to this is the money the state and feds get from the truck drivers that will be hauled into it for inspections.

Clifton, I have never seen the economic advantage of having a rest area just outside of one's county's only two exits, where the weary traveler may get off the road, catch a bite, and relieve themselves. But, the state government always knows what's best for us. Right?

This is going to become nothing more than a DMV weigh/inspection station. The eventual value of this "rest stop" will be astronomical. The state will make millions of dollars per year writing out tickets to truck drivers. Mr. Haddock needs to hold out for while to get what it will be worth.
