Commented on War on free speech hits new levels in US and EuropeOur Justice system has become a joke all over the USA, and the local Govt/Justice system has always been part of the good ole boy system, right here in Beaufort County, & Washington,NC.
I've been told there is not one local attorney who will challenged the local govt and or its good ole boy local police system. If this isnt true, will one of the great talkers here on Beaufort NOW, show me I am wrong? If no one does, it proves I am right and the people here only want to gripe about the National and State level. I know one person who was told that if they didn't like the way the City Council ruled, then they should hire an attorney. They know the game is rigged. Citizens have no power here or anywhere.

Commented on The 52-Million-Dollar Beaufort County School FiascoFurther reaming the taxpayer for 52 million dollars shouldn't come without consequence. The big issue that nobody's talking about is the fact that our public schools look like internment camps and function like them as well.
Eastern Elementary and JCT are two buildings of many that need serious renovation. 52 million dollars, invested in the right areas, could tighten up our neglected public buildings. It's embarrassing that the turd has been shot this far down the path.

Commented on The 52-Million-Dollar Beaufort County School FiascoAll Hood is doing is asking the commissioners to do their diligent duty, stop being lazy, and not just sit there as rubber stamps for other agencies. In other words, put in an effort! THINK! Yes, thinking is hard, but that is what you signed up for.
Put in a effort to protect the citizen's money! Plan ahead so that the unforeseen doesnt take you by surprise. STOP embarrassing yourselves by showing your behinds! Would someone move Ed Booth to the other side of the room, I am tired of seeing him rolling his eyes and laughing broadly whenever Hood talks. Beaufort Couty can be great again, when the commissioners start loving the citizens, more than the hate Hood. AND... school board members lets staff do their thinking... I was told, "we have a job, family and a life outside here, that why we have staff."

Glad to see Scott running. McConnell has been an absolute disaster, often doing the bidding of Obama, then Biden. We need a real Republican in that position.

When Governor deSantis took over in Florida, New College was virtually a far left hippy commune, and we he appointed new trustees to move it to a traditional liberal arts college, a lot of those lefties left, and good riddance.
New College abolished DEI and did not have quotas, and the result was an INCREASE in enrollement of minorities. When a college or university accepts students based on them as individuals, as New College does, instead of by racial quota, it is a positive thing for everybody. In short, Little Bobbie, you spin is your usual BS.

Commented on War on free speech hits new levels in US and EuropeIf someone, a political person or an average citizen, is prosecuted criminally by a government for advocating the position of the majority of citizens against illegal immigration, then that government is authoritarian and anti-democratic. That would be true even if it were not a majority opinion, but it is far more glaring when it is. Much of Europe is no longer democratic, and America is headed the same way.

Commented on The 52-Million-Dollar Beaufort County School FiascoA clique of political and bureaucratic insiders came up with this plan without proper study, as has too often been the case with our schools. Our school needs should have been both studied by experts and also been submitted to public input. None of that was done. Management in our schools, and also in county government is a bad joke. Politicans and bureaucrats too often seek self-glorification, whether it is Langley with his jail or Cheeseman with his resume-driven school project.
As usual, our pathetic school board majority did little more than sit there as rubberstamps for whatever Boss Cheeseman dictated. We badly need a change on that board.

Commented on The 52-Million-Dollar Beaufort County School FiascoFirebrand seems to be another woke commissioner who specializes in lying to the public. No part of our form of government ever intended for a few people to strong arm the public by taking control of normal business processes that are set out by statute.
Firebrand, do you have enough courage to identify yourself.

Here is what DEI does - half of the graduates of UCLA Medical School can't pass the medical licensing exams. I guess there will be pressure to have those exams dumbed down, too. Medicine is one area we need the best and the brightest, not those who meet a quota.

Commented on War on free speech hits new levels in US and EuropeIllegal immigration is one of the biggest political issues in America and in Europe. If people, especially politicians, are punished for taking stands on that, then the country involved has no free speech and is not a democracy. In America, election integrity is similarly a huge issue and if discussion of that is punished, then democracy is dead.

If it is not in Little Bobbie's far left talking points, his tunnel vision tells him it is not true. The word "true" to Bobbie means "consistent with the far left narrative"

Commented on War on free speech hits new levels in US and EuropeIf government punishes people for the content of their political speech, then free speech does not exist where that is done. Our courts in the US have consistently ruled that political speech is the most protected of all speech. Bob, you have a totalitarian mindset and that is very obvious.

Commented on The 52-Million-Dollar Beaufort County School FiascoCommissioner Hood Richardson wrote an informative and complete analysis on how to govern Beaufort County in a wise and conservative manner, which is what he has always held himself out to be - a Conservative - no more, no less, always consistently so.
Alternately, the liberal commentator "Firebrand," on this thread, is not smart enough to speak to the wide range of issues that Commissioner Richardson succinctly expressed; but instead "Firebrand" chose only to attack the wisdom of the 7 term conservative Republican Commissioner as Mr. Richardson is a bad man. Additionally, "Firebrand" (which I have just discovered) is not only a contextual idiot in the real terms of their effort as announced, but a fake entity with a fake email sneaking onto this platform, slipping through the monitored wall here on encnow.com , in comment form, and will not be allowed back to this august publication. However, I will leave "Firebrand's" sophistic recently expressed comment up as a relative point, contextually, and as the juxtaposed foil to Commissioner Richardson's well informative words of governing wisdom.

Commented on The 52-Million-Dollar Beaufort County School FiascoI have never heard such hogwash in my life. Hood is just grandstanding cause of the upcoming election. The meetings are open to the public. Time for the voters of Beaufort County to realize he doesn’t care about you. Hood is the reason businesses don’t want to move to our County. Time for Hood to retire and let someone who cares about Beaufort County take over.

Do you even read- at New College they lowered the entrance qualification, took a whole lot of athletes who tend to be black and offered them a spot. On the one hand, good for them, on the other hand, a lot of students fled New College.
So essentially, they did the thing you guys b*tch about the most. They slanted they enrollment by race. Ha! And none of you bothered to read that far. Just cherry picked what you thought was the good stuff. And that my friends is why you wont win the war. You may win some battles, but you gotta be smart to win the war.

Commented on War on free speech hits new levels in US and EuropeBoth of these young women political activists who are having their free speech suppressed are lawyers. That shows how far the establishment's attack on free speech goes. I would imagine that as soon as the new government in the Netherlands is installed, they will be taking some strong legislative action to protect freedom of speech there.
In the US, our First Amendment protects our freedom of speech, and at some point, those ridiculous anti-freedom charges in the Peoples Republic of Arizona will be thrown out. What is happening is really just Democrat harassment of a Republican official with a critical task between now and November. What is really needed in Europe and the US is a good mechanism to go after officials involved in such baseless political prosecutions, either criminally, civilly, or both. Make the rogue prosecutors and / or judges pay. Freedom of speech is a key cornerstone of democracy and must be defended.

Those with a felony conviction and other criminals are not likely to be getting a gun from a family member or neighbor. They are going to other criminals like at the open air drug markets. This rule is targeted at John Q. Public who gives a gun to a family member or sells one to a friend, but is not a gun dealer.
Gun dealers are well educated on how this law works and how to comply. John Q. Public may not even know they are covered, and even if they know that, they probably do know know how to comply. This rule is designed to trip up law abiding citizens and will not have any effect on criminals having guns. Most importantly, in a democracy, it is the legislative branch, NOT the executive branch that makes the law. This is another example of the anti-democracy nature of the Biden regime.
