Commented on An update from the frontThe manager “shall appoint & suspend or remove all city officers & employees… except the city attorney” ... in accordance w *PERMISSION* by the council.
- The manager hires, as long as the council permits it - The council sets the rules, & can change who hires what. The council can legally: - Take hiring authority back. - Assign hiring authority to an interim manager or even to an existing Dept Head. - Create a new position and choose who fills it - CHANGE THE STRUCTURE so that certain positions report directly to the council. The council is not locked into the default structure. There is no statute that says the council must wait for a manager to act. They are not powerless. The idea that the council could only act on three positions is incorrect. The idea that they were “powerless” without a manager is incorrect. The idea that they had no authority to initiate anything is incorrect.

Commented on Primary “Elections” ImportanceHogwash. The “so called Conservative Club” supports democrats and others. You have no vetting process. It is pretty obvious you have never and will never know what it is to be a conservative. Your rhetoric is from the left. You keep repeating the same lies and misinformation. You want to put Beaufort County into a tiny box and close the Hood. The true Republicans Party in Beaufort County want economic growth, small businesses thriving, and our children/grandchildren to have a reason to come home. Yes, we want them to find good jobs locally. You have held Beaufort County back for far too long. Obviously this primary is important. We need new leadership on the Board of Commissioners. Truth be told, many of us know the background of the candidates you have hand selected. There is no vetting process with your club. It’s about who you can control.

Commented on An update from the frontJoe Davis wrote this on Facebook:
TO:Amanda Blackmon. "Due process was followed. City council has hiring control over 3 positions: City Manager, City Attorney and City Clerk. We came together and hired the best possible option for City Manager." I have never seen a Councilman say something SOOOO NOT TRUE in my life. The Council has hiring authority over *every position* and that is true whether there is a sitting City Manager or not!!! Whomever is advising him needs to be fired! Maybe its the City attorney who seems to be underperforming in all ways.

Commented on Primary “Elections” ImportanceUnca Hood grand slammed this one out of the park; he's way ahead of 3/4's of the MAGA and Mainline GOP "boomers and doomers".....light-years ahead on this one.
There are certain "Republicans" who have used the cover of MAGA, both mainline and "underground", in an attempt to keep themselves in office..... unopposed. The remaining voters and HONEST elected officials who know the playbook of these B-movie actors are holding feet to the fire and ain't backing off until a "first down" is achieved. Even then, you have to keep gaining yards on the field; complacency leads to despotism. The 2026 midterms are going to, I believe, be one of the biggest wild card ACTUAL upsets we've seen in politics, especially NC politics, yet. You can best believe that North Carolina and other key swing states are being watched closely by the Trump team; Kidwell and others know this. As we've said previously: "Politics as usual" ain't cutting it anymore and people are doing their homework.

Commented on Primary “Elections” ImportanceJust to Reiterate a salient point in defense of my candidacy in the upcoming Republican Primary for Beaufort County Commission, the largest taxing authority is Beaufort County, tasked with assessing your property and setting tax rates to take your money no matter where you live, I am the one and only Proven Conservative running for election in that primary, for that most important seat.
I am not declaring that other Republicans may not learn to govern in a Conservative manner, I am simply and emphatically declaring that I have Never Voted for a tax increase in my 25 years of service, and I have proposed policy and oversight to cut tens of millions of Wasteful Spending to blunt the upward surge of the tax rate, where many other so-called "Republicans," excepting Conservative Commissioner Hood Richardson, have Not and would NOT do as I have done - Fight to Save Taxpayers' Money.

Are those that did this still in in the school? If so WHY? Why aren't people being charged with child abuse and going to jail?

Commented on An update from the frontSOURCES say: A Municipal charter cannot override or diminish authority granted to CityCouncil under NC state law. The charter operates w/in the framework of th GeneralStatutes, not above them.
Under G.S. 160A‑67,146,148 -“govt & general managemt of th city shall b vested in th CC.” -CCouncil has th authority to “create, change, abolish,&reorganize” offices, positions, depts,&agencies. -the CM administers th govt undr th general direction&control of CC. Statutes make clear: The council is th governing authority. Th managr is th administrator. The managr’s powers come from council, not th othr way around. Council’s authority doesnt disappear when th manager position is vacant. The charter-section simply describes a council‑manager form of govt, where th council sets policy& th CM carries out admin duties. It doesnt transfer th council’s statutory powers to CM,nor does it require “all executive action” to pass through a CM.If attempted,it would b invalid bec a charter cant contradict stateLaw

Commented on An update from the frontNick: I envy you having what could become a Conservative majority on the Washington City Council.
In all my years as a Beaufort County Commissioner, I have never experienced such a fundamental governing ability to govern smart, created completely by having 4 smart people in what would constitute a majority of Beaufort County Commissioners. Maybe my election in 2026 will prove different should I get elected, as the proven Conservative, and we elect a second Conservative.

Commented on Luke 2:1-20: Jesus Christ is BornJesus of Nazareth was not born in December. Let us keep memory of this and rejoice in his birth at all times because we are all born again into him daily as it is written.
In Sumerian tradition, December 25th was regarded as the birthday of Tammuz. Nimrod, who was a mighty hunter before the Lord, Married his own mother Semiramis, & became a powerful King while his wife & mother became a very powerful Queen In the land of Shinar. Eventually, Nimrod was killed by an enemy, who cut him into pieces sending them to various parts of the Kingdom. His mother& wife, the Queen had all the pieces gathered except one part, which could not be found, which was the sexual, reproductive organ. She then claimed Nimrod could not be brought back to life without it, & she told the people he ascended to the sun, & is now to be called “Baal” The sun god. She then proclaimed to the people that Baal would be present in the form of a flame whether candle or lamp when used in worship. The Queen began creating a mystery religion, & with Satan's help, she set herself up as a goddess, who now called herself to be known as “Ishtar”, the moon goddess. She claimed by Baal to have immaculately conceived bringing forth a son called Tammuz who was born on December 25th. This is the real origin of the holiday we call Christmas. Let us keep in mind the words of Jeremiah saying: “Thus saith the Lord, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not. They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.”

SD: I agree; there has to be a separation of powers AS WELL AS an internal system of checks and balances.....with adequate oversight.
Other than on this publication, the Mr. & Mrs. John Q. Public's of the GOP seem to be unaware of the friggin' lunacy they're paying for....that's a major problem. They're either apathetic OR they're getting smoke blown up somewhere by someone to keep them purposely unaware. Sooner than later, the public needs to start turning up the heat and asking questions. I've already been told that Kidwell refuses to talk to anyone but HIS "Republicans" and that anyone who disagrees with him is considered a "plant". The Emperor doesn't like it when people realize he ain't got no clothes on.

Commented on An update from the frontTruncated from previous article:
So what is the primary obstacle? In my view, it is our school system. Private and charter schools can play a role, but the real need is a return to strong, efficient public schools—strategically located and grounded in solid, traditional curricula. Young, productive families will not relocate to an area with a struggling school district. Continued spending on Main Street and the waterfront alone will not solve this. What we need is a broader, more integrated vision for economic development, education, and quality of life. It is encouraging to see that at least three of our new City Council members appear to be advocating for this long-needed approach. As the proverb reminds us: “Where there is no vision, the people perish.”

Commented on An update from the frontThis is an excellent and timely report from Nick Fritz. Washington and Beaufort County truly stand at the threshold of long-term success—if we can align around the right leadership and a shared vision.
I strongly believe in synergism. If our City Council, County Commission, and Economic Development Commission could work in concert rather than in silos, we could make meaningful progress for both the city and the county. Consider the assets already in place: within a 30-mile radius of Washington, there are approximately twenty-five boat builders. Our airport was once positioned to become a drone development center for the East Coast—what happened to that opportunity? With our waterfront, natural beauty, and quality of life, Washington should be an attractive bedroom community for Greenville. So what is the primary obstacle? In my view, it is our school system. Private and charter schools can play a role, but the real need is a return to strong, efficient public schools—strategically loca

I have turned down the Chairmanship, on occasion, because I am not called to do such, plus, I have often been an elected public official, and I contend ... Political officers and elected public officials should remain separate.

Commented on An update from the frontThat "world class private school" sounds interesting. Competition in education helps improve the quality of all providers. I would assume whoever is behind it would build and equip it and the city would be involved to help promote it. The new state Opportunity Scholarships passed by Republicans in the legislature should mostly pay for its operating costs.
The curves thrown to our new city government by the outgoing regime have been nasty, but the new team has rolled with the punches. Bobby Roberson was a great city manager previously and he should be of great help in getting things straightened out. It would be great if he wanted to stay on as manager. He is a huge improvement over Russell.
