The student enrollment is less than 6,000 now, and in the early days when I was a commissioner, enrollment was more than 7,500 students, and today, we spend far more money on education than we did then.

All these new schools that they are building is not helping the enrollment or the testing scores.

"RW" obviously believes that all discussions involving the schools should be of one where he 'fakes it until they make it" motif.

I wonder how many Beaufort County students are enrolled at BGCS? The out of county charter schools are a more and more popular option for families on both sides of the Pamlico River.

Commissioner/Unca Stan:

Is it just me or did I notice RW's body language and vocal inflection change when you asked him about the ACTUAL realtime numbers of enrollment?

His response to the question was an obvious deflection and an acknowledgement that they ain't where they should be.

After all, RW DID say that we should "look at the demographic" and call it for what it is. Even though THEY ain't doing that, it's a useful debating tool that would quickly even the odds.

Thank you, John Valley. Our major problem is getting the word out. We need more parents involved. Just look at the number of parents who attend the school board meetings. Not many. Then look at our choice of candidates when it is time to vote. Then look at our curriculum. 30 to 35% of our students are at their grades reading level. That means 70% are not. Change the method, change the results.

Sean Lennon, son of the Beatles' John Lennon had it right on DEI when he said it stands for "Dumb Evil Idiots".

WITN fired a well placed shot with this article. BGCS is making history as well as the fine families of our connected communities.

They are sending a direct and much needed middle finger to these Leninist San Francisco fanny bandits like Cheeseman, his secret "closet protegé" and the County SB Attorney....who's from Durham County. They're hitting these bastards in the pocketbook and have proved the "conspiracy theories" to be right....again.

I hope this trend continues and that the communities around Bath Elementary and Chocowinity Primary bring positive growth to THEIR communities. Montessori ain't cutting it.

We've got to do better. I hope Cheeseman and those peckerwoods on the school board are publicly humiliated and credited for one of the biggest f-ups in BOCO history.

American Indians might have something to say about BLM destroying the monument to Brigadier General Albert Pike. Prior to the War Between the States, Pike was the first attorney in the United States to sue the federal government on behalf of an Indian tribe, the Creek Nation, to try to recover Indian lands confiscated by the federal government. General Pike negotiated treaties with several tribes in what is now Oklahoma but was then known as the Indian Territory on behalf of the Confederate States which expanded the rights of the tribes, including giving each of them a seat in the Confederate Congress. The treaty with the Cherokees even granted them the right to statehood within the Confederate States if the south won.

THose Democrat politicians who are involved in obstructing ICE and in harboring illegal aliens need to be prosecuted and jailed. It would be nice if we could strip them of their citizenship and deport them, too.

Lets not forget that Michael Whatley has been a cheerleader for Big Solar which was one of the clients of his Washington, DC lobbying and public relations firm. We do NOT need him in the US Senate. Don Brown is the conservative choice in the GOP primary.

When my representatives vote against reconciliation monuments and southern memorials I can no longer support them. It is a character issue for me.

THis treasonous Democrat congresswoman is an anchor baby born to illegal aliens. She is a poster girl for why we need to end birthright citizenship.

Given the political bias of the American MSM media, sometimes one has to read foreign news sources to find out what is going on in America. I remember that it was also a British newspaper that first brought out the story on Obama's radical preacher who used to preach "G____ D____ America".

The Beaufort County Commission considered a resolution to support saving this monument. I remember that fake "conservative" Randy Walker voted against that resolution and thus for the monument's removal. Didn't another county commission RINO also do that?

I also remember when RINO Congressman Greg Murphy voted on two separate votes to remove southern monuments from the Capitol, and the second time was AFTER Republican leaders from his district voted unanimously to urge him not to do so.

North Carolina electric ratepayers should never forget despicable RINOs Phil Berger and Tim Moore who gave us NC's own Green New Deal, HB951, that is even more radical than the European Union's Green Deal. Shame on Berger and Moore. They need to be removed from office.

The County Board of Education needs to look at what's going on in surrounding counties and put 2 and 2 together. There have been investigations all around us and some very unsettling things, involving the children, have been found.

Many of those getting busted in investigations, investigations looking into very serious crimes against children, happen to be in education and medicine.

An "about face" needs to be had and some folks better get hip to the fly. It's only a matter of time before parents start asking questions.

Very true Conservative Voter. IMO they all need to be removed from office for violating their oath of office. If legally possible they need to be sent to the countries they support over America and never be allowed to return to America.

Ramirez is not the only Democrat in Congress to put their allegiance to a foreign country above their allegiance to the United States. Ilhan Omar, for example has admitted she puts Somalia ahead of the US.

If you like high electric bills, you will love Thom Tillis and his understudy, Michael Whatley. They are as bad as this pair of morons from Utah and Iowa.

What I have observed about elected people: They dont know everything, and they know it. They probably are feeling a bit incompetent, so they rely heavily on the hired staff & bureaucrats. (who dont know everything either & may even lie to protect their job).
When a citizen comes to an elected person with a grievance, this elected person lazily turns to the "bureaucrat experts." The experts give an answer, that may be wrong, but the elected person feels covered, and lazily moves on. He doesnt come back to the grieved citizen to see if what the experts told him is correct. He has thusly circled the govt wagons against the citizen. Its a wall a mile high.
If you are elected, and YOU have done this, then YOU are part of the corruption.
I know of many local elected people from City to County that this fits.
Shame on you!

Beaufort County's Schools need to re-evaluate their commitment to providing a fundamental education, while of a continuing value to the student and the community, while also at a reasonable cost to the taxpayers of Beaufort County. Additionally, if Beaufort County Schools do not make this most critical revelation of commitment, there will be other schools opening in Beaufort County that can and will provide that very necessary educational service to this community in need.

School Choice is evolving in North Carolina, and it will be successful.

If a school system is going to use computerized programs to teach, then there should be multiple neighborhood learning centers for children to learn these subjects... not mega schools which require a lot of $$$$ and are extremely impersonal. If one chooses to learn via online courses, then HomeSchooling is a real option.

Just one of my thoughts. :-)
