Southside students place at State Leadership Conference | Eastern NC Now

    Two Southside High School students placed in the Top 10 in their events at the Future Business Leaders of America State Leadership Conference held at the Koury Convention Center in Greensboro from Apr. 14 to Apr. 16.

    Marcrissa Carswell was a Top 10 finisher in the Job Interview event, and Yasmen McDonald was a Top 10 finisher in the Word Processing I event.

    Approximately 2000 people participated in the conference, nine of which were SHS FBLA members.

    Besides competing, students attended business workshops and meetings, elected state officers, and enjoyed a meal together.

    SHS counselor Chynna Bonner presented a workshop entitled "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings," during which she discussed the importance of persistence in the pursuit of goals.
