A crazy local election season has come and gone, and there is quite a bit of change, so fasten your seat belts, and get ready for a wild ride. 'Objects in rear view mirror may appear larger than they are.'

In the Beaufort County Sheriff's race Ernie Coleman endured an acrimonious run-off election against Harry Meredith, Jr., and won handily against his Democrat opponent, Al J. Whitley.

In the Beaufort County Clerk's race Incumbent, Marty Paramore prevailed against against a divided opposition of Jimbo Shriver and Eva Buck and won handily.

In the Beaufort County Commissioner's race, 2 Republicans replaced 2 Republicans, and the same Democrat that was already serving on this board was re-elected. Even though the break-down on party affiliation has not change, expect big changes on the board, with the first indication of such beginning with the selection of the board's chairman.

The votes totals of all elections mentioned are here below:

I was at both Bath and went over to Havelock during the day to see a friend there. At the Ruritan Club in Bath is was a convivial atmosphere. Over across at the Visitors Center in Havelock, it was somewhat strained, but still congenial.

I am so glad to vote at Bath because our line was short and steady where the far more populated Havelock lines were long at supper time. Craven County is far more populated than Beaufort so I am sure the observation holds about large numbers vs. less.

The best thing about Bath was how abject opponents spoke and conversed in intelligent terms. One lady tried to start a row with me, but soon we were talking amiably and she has good points about future issue which concern all of us here.

I surmise it was a good day for all and now ~~~ let's get down to tackling our issues of Jail and Belhaven Hospital for the benefit of all ~~~ rather than constant fighting and fussing.

However, if one believes that Beaufort County government is in full command of the issues of our times, here locally, one might need to steel their resolve for a more perfect understanding of the intellect possessed by the Center-Left /Left Coalition.
To borrow a big phrase from this salient plan originating at the federal level, under President Trump's watchful eye, whose time has finally arrived, even here in the mispent realm of Beaufort County government(s).
