News Release:

Raleigh, N.C. - Earlier today, Governor Pat McCrory was presented a customized, handmade library table from Morganton furniture manufacturer Chaddock. The governor accepted the gift from Tom Powell, Chaddock president and chief executive officer, on behalf of the state of North Carolina and said that it will be prominently displayed in the governor's Capitol Office.

"This is such a fine piece of furniture and I'm going to display it proudly here in the governor's office," said Governor McCrory. "I'd like to thank Tom and the craftsmen at Chaddock who spent their time crafting such a beautiful piece. After talking with Tom, it's encouraging to hear that Western Piedmont Community College and N.C. State are helping train the Chaddock workforce for new technologies in the furniture industry, like the one that was used to make this table."

The handmade library table was crafted in a combination of walnut and alder woods. The North Carolina state seal is hand-routed on the table top, using Chaddock's new five-axis router. The table was then hand-finished in a 25-step process. The table represents a combination old-school finishing techniques and new, cutting-edge technologies. Both are Chaddock expertise.

"It is an honor to have this handmade, customized library table in the governor's office," said Powell. "The table represents the accomplishments of man and machine - multi-generation craftsmanship and state-of-the-art equipment. Chaddock has invested in made-in-America - Morganton specifically. This table symbolizes that commitment."

Chaddock is a privately held American furniture company with deep roots in the furniture industry. Its current designer collections include David Easton, Larry Laslo and Mary McDonald, whose furniture products are manufactured at Chaddock's North Carolina facilities. Here, Chaddock craftsmen use traditional artisanal techniques combined with the most advanced manufacturing technologies to produce furniture of unparalleled quality, beauty and precision. Using carefully selected woods, a proprietary 25-step hand-finishing process, fabrics and leathers from the leading American and European mills, and couture cutting and sewing skills, Chaddock creates furniture that is "finished to perfection." Chaddock is available at leading furniture retailers and showrooms worldwide. For more information on Chaddock, please visit: http://www.chaddockhome.com/.
