BCN's Movie Database: Russell Crowe | Eastern NC Now

Australia is a rather large country, with a rather sparse population leading one to query: What doth they produce? One product in particular is their actors. They export a good many actors.

Publisher's note: To kick-off a fresh, new service, Movie Database, here in BCN, we are offering actor profiles - short in duration, but offering valuable links to informative posts and essential content - to better know the 'poor players' in the art of transferring story to celluloid.

Our reviewer of films, good and bad, Wyatt Sanderman Day, will be in charge of managing the actor profiles; however, if you have any interest in contributing a profile similar to the Wyatt Sanderman Day template, please join BCN as a member, send Stan Deatherage a private message, and we will consider your submission.

Wyatt Sanderman Day's note: Stan has asked me to work on this task to provide a discussion on the actors and to provide insight and avenue to BCN's newest database, this time movies /films, and I am happy to help, but we do it my way: that I take some of my favorite actors, and link to the reviews that I, and others may, have written that they acted in; then we link to their database profile, and, or any other links that I see fit. That's about it, and to that end, I continue with one of my favorites - Russell Crowe.

Australia is a rather large country, with a rather sparse population leading one to query: What doth they produce? One product in particular is their actors. They export a good many actors, or is it a many good actors.

Regardless, Australian Russell Crowe qualifies as the best of many good actors from "Down Under". His ability to rework his Australian accent to mimic Englishmen, the Irish and Americans, from all manner of dialects and time periods, has qualified Actor Crowe for so many roles, where he is always credible and remains central to the crux of the story.

Whether Russell is playing: a brutish LAPD detective, a deposed Roman general turned "Gladiator", a schizophrenic mathematician, a good boxer and great American father, American cowboys, Robin Hood or a leader of devoted sailors to the far side of the world, Actor Crowe nails every role, whether the film he does is serviceable as entertainment or a classic film for the ages.

To date, Russell Crowe has been nominated for a plethora of awards for multiple roles; won a number of Golden Globes, and won the Oscar for Best Male in a Leading Role in 2001 for "Gladiator", and still one wonders why he might not have won more awards.

There must be many wonderful actors performing now, and in movies past, so we have many more to profile which we shall continue to do.

Come join us at our new Movie Database. We welcome you our latest feature to sort through film data to discover information on actors, directors, film images, or just what is playing, when it will pay, or when it did play. It is a work in progress, so we would appreciate your input.
