Governor McCrory Announces Release Of New Resource Guide And Website For NC Veterans | Eastern North Carolina Now

Press Release:

Raleigh, N.C.     Governor Pat McCrory announced today the release of a new NC4VETS printed resource guide and new updated website that focuses on federal VA benefits as well as opportunities for employment, education, health care, housing and personal services for North Carolina veterans.

"Veterans and their families have made significant sacrifices in serving our country," said Governor McCrory. "The new NC4Vets guide and website are designed to make sure our veterans have access to the benefits and services they have earned as well as providing them with opportunities to apply the leadership, discipline and training they received while in the military."

North Carolina is home to approximately 800,000 veterans.

The 2015 Guide has doubled in content from the 2014 guide, and contains more than 350 points of contact to employment and career services, more than 100 veteran focused non-profits and detailed information on how to work with a North Carolina Veterans Service Officer. The guide can be obtained by calling 1-844-nc4-vets or 1-844-624-8387. This information can also be obtained at www.NC4VETS.com.

The new NC4VETS website features a Geo-Location tool that will allow veterans to enter their zip code and receive a virtual map of services and resources located within a desired radius. NC4VETS.com is also a fully mobile application that allows a veteran to find service locations straight from their mobile phone.

"This new suite of interactive tools and technology allows our team to be more responsive, effective and efficient," said Ilario Pantano, North Carolina Veterans Affairs Director. "This not only helps North Carolina's 800,000 veterans, but serves the families of the fallen we remember this Memorial Day weekend."

NC4VETS.com will also provide non-profits and state agencies the capability to upload their services and locations available to veterans.

The North Carolina Division of Veterans Affairs (DVA) provides services and benefits for veterans and operates four State Veteran's Nursing Homes and three State Veteran's Cemeteries. In 2014, the DVA awarded more than 270 scholarships to the children of deceased North Carolina war veterans with an additional 1,200 children receiving financial aid through the division's scholarship program.
