    Raleigh, N.C.    Governor Pat McCrory has appointed two District Court judges.

    The governor selected David Sherrill of Greensboro to fill the 18th Judicial District vacancy in Guilford County. The vacancy was created by the retirement of District Court Judge William K. "Pete" Hunter.

    The governor also named Jefferson Griffin of Raleigh to fill the vacancy in the 10th Judicial District in Wake County. The vacancy was created by the passing of District Court Judge Jennifer M. Green.

    Sherrill has operated his own general law practice in Greensboro since 2005. Prior to that, he served as a litigation associate specializing in medical malpractice in the Greensboro offices of Crumley and Associates in 2004 and the Law Offices of Wade Byrd in 2003-2004.

    Sherrill earned his law degree from the North Carolina Central School of Law in 2001. Prior to receiving his law degree, he worked as a registered nurse. Sherrill received his nursing education from Rowan Chowan Community College and Winston-Salem State University where he graduated No. 1 in his class.

    Griffin comes to the bench after serving as an assistant district attorney in the Wake County District Attorney's Office. During his time at the District Attorney's Office, he prosecuted thousands of criminal cases ranging from traffic violations to first degree murder. In 2012, he was promoted to the general felony trial unit prosecuting felony cases from indictment to trial.

    Prior to coming to the District Attorney's Office in 2010, Griffin practiced in the firm of Wallace, Morris, Barwick, Landis and Stroud in Kinston. Griffin received his law degree from the North Carolina Central University School of Law in 2008.

    Prior to practicing law, Griffin was a charter boat captain and held management positions in the recreational fishing business.

Did you see the 60 Minutes segment last night about Duke Energy coal ash spills and how they have walked away from them without putting arsenic, strontium, and other hazardous wastes into a LINED CONTAINMENT AREA . . .????

Leslie Stall was asking the lady who heads Duke Energy some serious questions and she got the "I wish I could kill you" look in her eyes before it was over!
