How to Write a Business Plan with Brian Cooke


    Starting your own small business is a huge step for anyone. This class will help you with the fundamentals of writing a business plan. A business plan is the foundation for success when making a decision to start a new business or acquire an existing business. Your business plan is key when it comes to seeking funds for your business. Topics discussed include: the executive summary, describing your business, conducting marketing research and analysis and marketing the business.

    Brian Cooke is a former instructor of management and entrepreneurship at East Carolina University. He received his BSBA, concentrating in entrepreneurship and small business management, as well as his MBA from ECU. During his time at ECU, Cooke worked as the associate director of the Small Business Institute, interned with the NC Small Business and Technology Development Center and received two national awards for business case competitions. He has experience in business ownership, business consulting, business planning, product design, manufacturing and supply chain management.

    The workshop is free and runs from 3:00-5:00 p.m. on Monday, November 7. Participants are encouraged to pre-register by calling (252)940-6375.

Trailblazing Thursdays


    Learn about career pathways, degree programs, financial literacy, scholarships and grants and continuing education programs. These sessions will offer people who are seeking to return to the workforce or get ahead in their career with information about the training and educational opportunities available at BCCC. Participants will also get a chance to meet business professionals who can help them focus their education to get the career they are searching for.

    The sessions are free and will take place on November 17 and December 1 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the Building 8 auditorium.
