Government control of the economy has never worked anywhere in the word as well as has free enterprise. Wage and price controls have never worked. History is full of examples of the folly of the government trying to control economic activity that run counter to the market forces.

No better example exists these days than the health care industry. Costs are sky rocketing and quality is threatened, if for no other reason that the flight of doctors and health care providers from the profession because as their cost go up they are prohibited from raising their prices. But the major problem in health care is the lack of market competition. People don't control what they consume by paying for it themselves. Millions of health care consumers perceive that "it doesn't cost me anything (beyond the co-pay or deducible)." In short, there is no incentive to conserve.

Now, with ObamaCare, the government is now dictating what services must be provided by private insurance plans, and in this instance at no charge whatsoever. The current scheme is to require private employers, through their insurance plan, to provide "free" birth control prescriptions to anyone who wants it. Click here to read the story.

But remember, there is no "free lunch." You and I will pay. If you buy products and services from companies who will be providing "free birth control" you and I will be paying for it. And it will not matter if the recipients of this "free" product can better afford to pay for it than you and I can afford. Barack Obama has decided this is such a good idea, whether you agree you should be providing birth control to anybody who wants it or not, he is dictating you will pay for it. After all, it's free.
