BCCC Foundation Announces Darragh Foundation Scholarships | Eastern NC Now

    The Beaufort County Community College Foundation is proud to announce the following recipients of the Darragh Foundation Scholarship. Established in 1998 by Richard and Mildred Darragh, the Darragh family focuses on the impact of education in the communities it serves. The Darragh Foundation's mission is helping to improve the lives of others. Scholarships from the foundation are awarded to continuing education students seeking their high school equivalency diploma and students working towards an industry-recognized credential returning to the workforce.

    Romaine Blount, 47, is an income maintenance student and a resident of Belhaven. The mother of six and wife of Gary Blount is the daughter of Romaine and Milbert Whitely of Pantego. She attended John A. Wilkinson High School.

    Felicia Burrus, 49, is the daughter of Retha Sykes. She is part of the income maintenance worker program and holds an Associate in Applied Sciences in Human Services Technology. The Washington resident attended Mattamuskeet High School. She is currently works as a cashier at Bojangles.

    Shannon Horton, 32, is daughter of Nancy Battle of Washington, and a mother of five. She is training to become an income maintenance worker II. The Washington resident attended Washington High School.

    Fatimah Keyes, 23, is daughter of Claude and Geraldine Moore of Washington, and a mother of one. The Washington resident attended D.H. Conley High School. She currently works as a cashier and cook at Burger King and is part of the pharmacist technician program.
