Ghislaine Maxwell, the former madam of the late billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, tried to recruit Paris Hilton for him, according to a former friend of the 58-year-old British socialite.

Daily Mail reported that Christopher Mason said Maxwell stopped dead in her tracks after bumping into Hilton at a party, saying "oh my God," adding that she would be "perfect" for Epstein.

"Can you introduce us?" Maxwell told a friend, referring to Hilton.

Though Mason did not give a date for the encounter, it is believed to have happened around 2000, when Hilton was 19 and on the cusp of becoming a star. Mason recalled the details of what happened in an episode of "Surviving Jeffrey Epstein" that is set to air on Lifetime on Sunday night.

"A friend of mine was at a party and Ghislaine said: 'Oh my god, who is that?' and was looking at this pretty, younger teenage girl," he recalled. "She said: 'Do you know her?' My friend said: 'Yeah, she's called Paris Hilton' and Ghislaine said: 'Ohhhh she'd be perfect for Jeffrey. Can you introduce us?'"

Mason went on to say that people were "puzzled" by Epstein and Maxwell's relationship at the time.

"The rumors were Ghislaine was scouring New York finding younger girls to go on dates with Jeffrey. At the time it seemed a bit naughty," he said.

Mason also remembered Maxwell introducing him to Prince Andrew.

"She introduced me to him. He told me he was staying at Jeffrey's townhouse," he said. "That fascinated me. It seems like a perfect instance of the kind of people Jeffrey was hanging out with."

Dr. Barbara Ziv, a forensic psychiatrist and expert in sexual assault, also appeared in the documentary. She said that Maxwell and Epstein "may have been a mutually parasitic relationship."

"I don't think there's any evidence Jeffrey Epstein was capable of having any deep feelings for anyone but that doesn't mean he doesn't know a good exchange relationship where he finds one," Dr. Ziv said.

Epstein committed suicide in federal custody last summer while awaiting trial on various sex charges. Maxwell was arrested last month for grooming young girls for sex, and she has been remanded to a prison in New York City until her trial, which is scheduled to take pace next July.
