Conservatives in legislature will battle RINOs over Medicaid expansion | Eastern North Carolina Now

One likely battle in the state legislature that will pit conservatives against RINOs this short session is likely to be the Obamacare Medicaid expansion.  It is thought that RINO legislative leaders House Speaker Tim Moore and Senate President Phil Berger promised far left governor Roy Cooper to knuckle under to his demand for Obamacare Medicaid expansion as part of their deal for Cooper to sign last year's budget.  Another part of the deal seems to have been Moore and Berger kowtowing to Cooper on his radical Green New Deal (HB951).

Polling shows that Republican voters are overwhelmingly against the medicaid expansion, but some of our RINOs in Raleigh listen to the special interests and the Democrats more than their own voters.

This will also see Beaufort County's legislators on opposite sides.  Sen. Jim Perry is a special interest Republican who is a go-fer for those special interests that fund his campaign.  One of them is Big Medicine, which wants the Obamacare Medicaid expansion.  Perry has already been an active supporter of Medicaid expansion, and is expected to play a major role in pushing it this session.  The Senate was thought to have the votes to pass this issue last session but conservatives stood firm against it in the House. Now there are more GOP senators backing away from this issue as well.

In spite of Speaker Moore trying to push this Obamacare agenda, House members have stood firm against it.  The House GOP caucus voted overwhelmingly to instruct Moore not to bring it to the floor for a vote. Leading the fight to stop Medicaid expansion has been the House Freedom Caucus and its chairman, Rep. Keith Kidwell.

Medicaid expansion will end up soaking the NC taxpayer.  The majority of those who would be given government funded health care already have health coverage through their employer, which could then drop their coverage when government (the taxpayer) picks it up.

RINOs selling out to Roy Cooper would also help further the future political ambitions of Cooper, who wants to be a national candidate.  This would just be stupid politics for the RINOs.
