BCCC Congratulates Darragh Foundation Scholarship Recipients | Eastern NC Now

    The Beaufort County Community College Foundation is proud to announce the following Darragh Foundation Scholarship recipients. The Beaufort Promise Scholarship will continue for qualified students from Beaufort, Hyde, Tyrrell, and Washington Counties, but private scholarships such as those through the Darragh Foundation can help cover textbooks. Other recipients will be announced throughout the spring.

    Established in 1998 by Richard and Mildred Darragh, the Darragh family focuses on the impact of education in the communities it serves. The Darragh Foundation's mission is "Helping to Improve the Lives of Others." Scholarships are awarded to Continuing Education students seeking their high school equivalency diploma and students working towards an industry-recognized credential returning to the workforce. Scholarships are awarded biannually and students must show academic promise and demonstrate need.

    Lateria Alexander, 19, is a resident of Washington and a natural hair care student. She attended Washington High School and plans to own a business.

    Shamita Alston, 34, is a resident of Greenville and a nail technician student. Alston attended J.H. Rose High School. She plans to work as a nail technician and major in business.

    Caressa Atkinson, 36, is a manicure/nail technology student and a Greenville resident. She attended Anointed Zone High School. Atkinson currently works as a dasher for Doordash and plans to own and work in a beauty bar.

    Keisha Cherry, 42, is a Williamston resident and a natural hair student. She attended Cooley High School and holds a certification as a medical assistant. Cherry plans to open a salon.

    Demalia Dills, 23, is a Winterville resident and a pharmacy technician student. She attended Hillside High School and holds an associate degree in healthcare management. Dills currently works at Fresenius Medical Care Center as a patient care technician. She plans to work as a pharmacy technician.

    Starasia Ebron, 31, is a Greenville resident. She attended Penn Foster High School. Ebron plans to start her own business.

    Charity Grice, 42, is a Washington resident and an esthetics student. She attended Washington High School and holds an associate degree. She currently works at ECU Health as a registered nurse. Grice plans to work in esthetics. (not pictured)

    Fonda Grizzard, 49, is an Ernul resident and an industrial sewing & upholstery student. She earned a GED and currently works at A&J Canvas.

    Kevia Griffin, 35, is a Williamston resident and an industrial sewing and upholstery student. She attended Williamston High School and holds a bachelor's degree. Griffin currently works at North Carolina Department of Public Safety. She plans to work in real estate. (not pictured)

    Ka'Shauna Harvey, 26, is a Chocowinity resident and a phlebotomy student. She attended Southside High School. Harvey currently works at military funeral honors. She plans to be a licensed practical nurse.
